I just want to say that I’m SO GRATEFUL for my friends new and old, near and far.
I could not stay sane without you.
THANK YOU.

This is so dumb, I can barely even type it. Sci Fi is now SyFy. The suits at NBC somehow thought this was a way to “distance” themselves from the science fiction genre. Cuz, you know, sci fi means GEEK and that is “holding the brand back”. Personally, I find the implication that we geeks are a detriment very insulting. We’ve got more discretionary income than sheeple, I can tell you that. Harumph.
I’m not making this up. It’s too dumb to be fake. Are these brainiacs in charge at NBC really this dumb and out of touch? How can they not know the power of the geek cred? How can they not know that geeks make the world go ’round? How can they be so incredibly stupid? Answer: Age + Cluelessness.
Just read this statement (from the above link) and try not to laugh:
“When we tested this new name, the thing that we got back from our 18-to-34 techno-savvy crowd, which is quite a lot of our audience, is actually this is how you’d text it,” Mr. Howe said. “It made us feel much cooler, much more cutting-edge, much more hip, which was kind of bang-on what we wanted to achieve communication-wise.”
David Howe has no interest or background in sci fi (clearly) and is all about banishing all references to science fiction from the channel. Judging by the movies they crank out, maybe it should be called the Bad Movie channel. Or the Trek rerun channel. But, no, not the word Trek – that might run off all those hordes of sheeple who are “put off” by the term “science fiction”. Right. The more mediocre the better because we all know that sheeple do not like to be challenged in any way.
Sometimes I think that everyone over 50 should be rounded up and forced into technology camps so they can join the rest of us in the 21st century. (I think Howe is not quite 50 – but he should get a waiver and be sent with the geezers.) Just damn.
This intro should warn you of my pissy nature at the moment. So tread carefully if you need to speak to me.
There’s no more vicious breed of Drama Llama than that of family. Each family member has their own and they are primed for battle at all times. I post this for the amusement of my friends who rarely get to hear juicy Drama Llama stories from me. I don’t have many Llama tales of woe, but when I do, it’s a biggie. Enjoy, you sick bitches!
This trip to Nutsville was a prime example of why family is the wart on the ass of humanity and should be avoided at all costs.
My mother has never been nice. Or even sorta nice. She’s a mean spirited, selfish, small minded woman who is only interested in people she can control. Which is why we do NOT get along. She cannot tolerate insubordination from the minions and that’s all she’s ever gotten from me. It drives her crazy that she can’t find a way to make me get in line. I like this. This bit of rebellion kept me sane growing up with this woman.
She perfectly reflects her upbringing and she has perfectly recreated that same fucked up dynamic in her own family. She rules the roost, the menfolk cower from her ass chewings and let her do as she pleases. Just as her mother did. She marginalizes the female child just as she was marginalized. She browbeats the male child and keeps him steppin’ and fetchin’ just as her mother does to her brother. It’s sick, sick, sick. She’s ruined my brother’s life by controlling his every breath since he was born. He is 42 years old and single, imagine that. He did manage to reproduce, tho, so she has two generations of minions to carry out her every order. The old battle axe will live to be 100 and my brother will be steppin’ and fetchin’ his whole life. So, what will happen then, is that his kid will be steppin’ and fetchin’ for him. The cycle goes on. [update a couple of hours after I wrote this post: OMG, I just realised that my brother is raising a kid with his mother. GAH! Oedipus, anyone?]
Sick, sick, sick.

I found out about this on Twitter and don’t think I posted about it. The series wrapped up today and if you’ve not seen it, get thee to crackle.com!!
I think Zoë Bell rocks anyway, but this little web series was great! I hope they pick it up for TV. It’s about 70-80 minutes all together and every minute is jam packed with story and action. Good stuff.
We’re off to Nutsville where I’ve got a father in hospital and the weather promises to suck balls all weekend. Fun, fun. :-/
Oy! It’s almost 4pm and my body is confused! Wah! Despite the time change weirdness (lunch @ 3pm anyone?), I’ve gotten some stuff done around misangela.com and around the intertubes. I am on a mission to get rid of things that harsh my mellow! I’ve found an FB plugin that works okay. I’ve deleted Blogrolling and updated the WP blogroll. I’ve rearranged this place to achieve as much balance as I can. I’ve cleaned out LJ.
In addition to virtual stuff, I’ve been pretty good IRL, too. I’ve gotten my time on the Rack in. I’ve filled the bird feeders… again. I’ve given tech support to my newest Mac convert, I’ve arranged our events for March and I’m doing a bit of laundry. I even got a present in the mail from my lovely in-laws! Yay!
Pretty good day if you ask me! :-)
