April Fool’s Day

Is Anniversary #3 for us!

We went to the Titanic exhibit! If you’ve not gone, GO. It’s here until June 2nd and it’s totally worth $20! Nick found some discount coupons for $4 off each ticket somewhere at the Atllantic Station website.

They have a 15 ton piece of the ship and it’s HUGE. It really gives you the scale of the ship. It’s about 30-40 ft wide and about 15-20 high and it’s just part of ONE cabin in the second class section! I was hoping for more stuff, but I understand that there are some other exhibits out there besides this one. Don’t get me wrong, this one has a lot of pieces and takes 1.5 hours, but it still seemed like a relatively small number of things from a ship that huge. This exhibit is the only one with the huge chunks. There is a second chunk that’s “only” 3 tons. It was separated from the larger one after salvage. I loved the personal effects that survived.

There was a surprising number of paper objects that survived. Apparently being in tanned leather somehow kept them from deteriorating. There was a champagne bottle with champagne still in it. There was a perfume sample case that still had the samples in it – and you could smell them through holes in the display! They have an artificial iceberg you can touch, which is ingenious.

The best part is the ticket you get when you start. They match the passenger’s gender with you and give you a replica of the actual tickets used. It has the Class and sometimes the cabin # as well as biographical info about the passenger if there is any. You can find out if your passenger lived or died at the end of the tour. That was fun. Many more women than men made it, naturally, so my 2nd class cabin woman lived and Nick’s 2nd class cabin man did not. It was great fun.

Then we went to Six Feet Under for lunch and ate WAY too much! Note to self: never eat hushpuppies with beer! Can you say bloat? Argh!

Then we had a couple of hours to kill before our friends at Twinhead Theatre did there part of the 365 Plays show… or so we thought. The bulletin said 7pm, but it actually started at 6:30. SUCK. So, once again at loose ends, we hung out with Deisha and the theatre crowd at the Corner Pub for a bit.

We were still semi bored, but also tired, so we trundled home.

It’s 11:35 now and we’re off to beddie. We had a wonderful Anniversary! It’s always fun to hang out with my favourite person in the whole world! I’m a lucky girl to have Nick. We are far, far more together than apart. We’re a team in every sense and that’s why we’ll be together always, I think. :-)

Happy Anniversary, baby! I love you!

So much for Battlestar Galactica

WTF is wrong with SciFi channel? In yet another boneheaded move, they have left the series with a 10 month gap. That channel is clearly run by morons. I swear, I’ve never seen such stupid shit. First they move it to Sundays with commercials that are straight from Dawsons Creek. Now they leave it hanging until NEXT YEAR.

Do they really, honestly, expect the series to recover from that? How stupid can one bunch of suits be? The company that runs this channel (and USA and some others) defies any sort of logic when it comes to managing their series. They totally ruin the continuity of a show then cancel it when it “fails to bring in the numbers”. Well, HELL, if viewers can’t find the frelling thing because you’ve moved it then you take it off the frelling AIR for almost a year, DUH, ya think you might lose people?

Just DAMN.

They canceled Farscape. They canceled Stargate SG-1. They’ve ruined Battlestar. Atlantis will be next, but that’s no great loss. I think they should just rename the channel Bad Movies R Us and be done with it. Sci-Fi my ASS.

Guess we’re left to watch our last episodes of Stargate SG-1 and move on. Fucking assholes. I think I shall switch to BBC America. They have some good stuff and although they have funky seasons, at least the content is there.

FRELL. I liked Battlestar. I know I’ve said it before, but I really do detest Sci-Fi. They are run by suits who are clueless. Anytime they touch a sci-fi show, you can be sure they’ll trash it.

FRELL.

BMI numbers – FEH!

Ok, so to have a “healthy” BMI, a 5’4″ female should weigh no more than 145#.

I’ll wait for the hysterical laughter to subside…

WTF?

I’ve not seen 145 since I was around 21 years old!! So, this means that I’m doomed to an unhealthy BMI for the rest of my life. Good thing I think BMI is a totally unreasonable way to judge health. :-) The insurance companies wield it as a way to charge higher rates, which invalidates it completely for me.

If get down to the weight I’m going for (more than 150, I can tell you!), my BMI will still be in the “overweight” range, which is totally moronic. Hell, if I lost down to 150, that’s in the “overweight” range!! BULLSHIT!!

Excuse me while I go take a phenteramine… :->

Tree Sex!! BLARGH!

Yah, the hoarse voice of Sunday quickly became the nasty bout of allergies that I’m still sick with today! I’ve not been sick like this in years!

I’m not the only one – Ben has been sick as shit since last week and a girl at the Moon was also croaking like a frog from it the other day. I don’t know what the difference is this year, but it’s kicking my ass!

Nick is fine this year. He was the sick one last year. Weird.

So, I’ll get back to you when I am not coughing up a lung, k?

Thanks for a great St Patty’s!

Thanks to everyone who came out for the first party of the year! Despite my back issues, I had a great time and talked myself hoarse! TEE!!
