Referrals, Knoxville con and more!

I love digging through referrals. Let’s see what weirdness awaits us this time:
– Someone from the Securities and Exchange Dept. in D.C. perusing my Smashed Cauliflower recipe.
– Lots of recipe hits, as usual. Is Italian Chili that hard? Man! Tons of hits.
– A google.de hit for Nina Hartley.
– Cox in Las Vegas! Hi, Heather!! :)
– COOL! Someone in Derio, Pais Vasco Spain translated a post into Spanish with Google translate! It seems to work VERY well! Look at my site in Spanish.
– Lots of Budget, Bibi Chen, Neat Receipts and Atala, as usual.
– The obligatory Dragon*Con sucks and Heroes hits.
– Rendi’s comment seems to lead many searches for her to my blog. Meh!
– And last, someone from Comcast biz office is very interested in my blog, apparently.

We will be in Knoxville for a small con this weekend, the Knoxville Comics and Anime Con. I hope it’s a good show. The tables are pricey for a small show and this is a test to see if it’s worth it. My guess: probably not. We shall see.

Referrals for 3/5/10

Hello to:

174.79.188.# Hallo, Winblows user! I see you!
Alpharetta peeps!
Canada, eh?
Duluth peeps!
Thanks for the mention The Shave Den!
HA! “big men fuck” brought someone here from Ask.com!

I hope the thousands of people who see my hamseh tattoo haven’t copied it, but I’m sure they have. It’d be great to see someone with it one day! I still get tons of hits for my recipes, which makes me happy. And of course Bibi Chen and Atala continue to get tons of hits.

Since I get a ton of hits for Neat Receipts serial numbers, let me help you out. Some ASSHOLE on eBay stole my installer discs, so here’s a number from the app that could be the serial (I am not sure): FXRC-8003-0000-0793-7425. Happy scanning.

Hope you enjoyed the blog. You really should say HI in the comments! Especially the Pelzer person. Come, on, don’t be a lurker! :-)

Various things

This is a catch all post since none of the things are big enough to have their own post. You know the drill. :-)

Remember the post about the Bumpkin who was trying to flame me for leaving East TN? Well, since joining FaceBook, I’ve been inundated with people from High School. On the home page of FB, you get a “News Feed” of what amounts to tweets from the people who are on your friends list. I began to notice an inordinate number of posts with the words “I’ll pray for you” in them. There was a comment the other day from someone who said, “I think it’s gonna be one of those days” and the response was “I’ll pray for you” and that really stuck in my craw. WTF? You need to PRAY for someone who’s having a bad day? That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. And very Evangelical. And VERY COMMON from these TN people. I see at least 2-3 comments every single day involving praying or God or something overtly Christian. I’d like to say, right here and now:

Every word I’ve said about East TN and the large batch of über Christian, ultra Conservatives that live there is SPOT ON.

Good to know my perceptions have been validated by the very people that deny they are like this. Perhaps they should PRAY about it? I’m not saying everyone, but I am saying much of the population is Christian and Conservative. It’s a damn scary place, I tell you!

I was going to write about my frustration with women who breed… but have decided to skip it. It’s old news.

So, the treadmill came back to life, but the walk belt is fubar, which is why it makes a horrid squeaky sound and jerks mightily. $139.29 later and the new belt is on the way.

I’ve beefed up my Twitter feed. FWIW. It’s still a bit on the useless side, but I can see the value of it for comics, writers, news, arts and other things with lots of updates.

The FaceBook ad we are running is working. Their CPC (cost per click) is outrageous (46¢ EA) so we only get 11 clicks per day the way I’ve got it set up, but I think it will be worth the $150/mo it’s running us now. We’ll see.

Has anyone ever been to ConNooga? If so, how’s about a review? We’re thinking of going… Leave a comment!

We’re going to the James Joyce for Valentine’s Day dinner this year. We usually stay home and I cook a lavish meal, so we thought we’d do something different this year. It’s a great deal if anyone is thinking of going out: $50 for a 3 course dinner and a bottle of Cristalino! Call 404.296.5097 if you want a reservation. We’ll be there at 6pm!

Nothing of interest in the referrals this time. No revisits from the East TN Bumpkin. S/he probably thinks I can monitor his/her every move since I’ve got the IP address… LOL

Congrats to the Piazzas! They got the house they wanted to rent over here in the 30032! Yay! And also to Stormy who is about to get her Curves job at the one next to my Kroger. Double yay!!

Ok, enough of this. I need to weed and feed the yard!

Guess what?

I AM POSTING THIS FROM MY SPOOTY NEW HARD DRIVE AT MY OWN DESK!

OMG, just one day w/out the intertubes sucked serious ASS. You don’t realise how much you use the damn web until you don’t have it.

My Weasel got me not one, but TWO 320Gb drives. One is the main and the other is for Time Machine. We do a Retrospect backup once a week, but I’m going to use Time Machine for redundancy and more immediate backed up file access, if needed.

I’m trolling the referrals today to see if my hillbilly stalker has come back (sadly, no) but I’m seeing some interesting new readers, for instance:

Hello, Ireland!
Hello, Miami!
Hello, Mayo Institute!
Hello, Jackson, MS!
Hello, insightinc.net aka Digital Agent!

It appears there are stalkers in Miami and Jackson, judging by their long visits. Say Hi, sometime, won’t you? Just don’t leave dumbass comments like the Hillbilly Stalker or I’ll mock you. ;-)

I’m amazed at the hits I get for the workout dvd, hamseh tat pic and my recipes. Seriously. These are the top three always. Everyone <3s the Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts! I get lots of google traffic - too bad there's no $$ coming to me for it. I should take a stab at some ads, perhaps. It's just SO difficult to make sense of the schemes! If it's hard for me to understand, then it’s no wonder companies are flummoxed. I think they just drop some cash and hope for the best.

So, today I think I’ll start taking down the tree. Yes, it’s still up because we didn’t get to it Monday. It’s tradition to leave it up until 12th Night (Epiphany, Jan 6) anyway, so we’re just a few days off. Other than that, I’ve got to try to make sense of my hammered email client. Apple Mail did not fare well during the hard drive problems and subsequent copying. I think the problems were caused from my cleaning out and deleting a bunch of old mail recently – and the deleted mail ended up only partially deleted due to the bad blocks on the drive. Then when Mail was copied, it freaked. I may end up tossing it all and starting fresh. It’s no biggie, it’s just email. And if there is something that I really really need, I can pull it from a backup. But I doubt it.

Anyway, I’m back, the phones are up and it’s back to business. Yay!
