More Con thoughts

Okay, I’ve given you the events of the Con, now for my thoughts about it. These are in no particular order, just the stuff that comes to mind when reflecting about DragonCon 2004.

Next year, there WILL be attendance at spanky parties. I’ll not miss them again.

The overall feel of the Con was laid back this year. Not as much cheering or loudness as in years past. Nice!

The roommates were ok, but the hogging of the bed (that they DID NOT have the right to hog) and the odd guy that stalked us for 2 days was not cool. Next year there will be no roomies. We do, however, hope to put together a performance piece for next year with the roomies from this year. They’ll just have to stay somewhere else!

The Con Suite was pretty cool. Joe is loud and can be very rude at times, but overall, he’s a great guy. Hey, anyone who hunts me down to apologize for yelling at me (for no reason) is OK in my book!

The fuzz kept a low profile this year and were not nearly as assholey as last year. This is a needed improvement.

The Tesla Coil Experiment Gone Awry guy, Frank from New Orleans, is well known by our Caroline and her mom Goldie. Har!! How’s that for odd?

Next year, I’ll be eating echinacea before and during the Con. I don’t want to get the ConCrud again. Bleh.

The Con really needs to fix the badge pick up. Why not just mail the goddamn things? If you put a sparkly in them, I don’t think they would be easy to duplicate. Besides, it’s not like you can’t share the stupid things anyway! It sucks that those of us who bought badges this year will have to wait in line for our badge next year and those who walk up with no badge will zoom thru on-site registration. Grrrr! I have to say tho, that it only took about 45 minutes on Thursday at 4pm as opposed to 2.5 hours last year, so that’s better. Having the lines done by name rather than number seemed to help somehow. The line for me and Andy (McC-Ro) was way short! Andy went in at 10pm on Thu and it only took him about 15 minutes.

Those we missed this year: Robert and Donna (The Blessed Bee), Evil from Florida and Ripper (who I did see for a minute as we were leaving).

We saw Virginia Hey, but she couldn’t remember me due to my red/purple hair. She seemed more relaxed and happy this year than when we saw her last.

Steve Bacic (Andromeda) is more luscious in person than on TV. I mean really, really luscious. Grrrruff! He is ultimately lickable!

David Carradine is a huge asshole. He actually snarled at people! I refused to give him a red cent for an autograph despite the fact that we had groovy shirts ready to sign. His assistant had to speak for him since he was sitting there with a frown on his face snarling at the people who were stupid enough to give him $20 a pop for an autograph. Fucker. An actress who was sitting down the row from him said he’d been like that for the whole con and she didn’t know why he even bothered! It appears his cancellation was real and his handlers decided to make him attend. Bad idea. Just stay at home, we don’t need the ‘tude.

Margot Kidder was very nice. She was fascinated with the broad mix of people at this con and she loved my hair. :-) She made a comment about there being “more than just sci fi at this Con!”. Heh, heh, heh, indeed! Smart lady!

Garrett Wang is such a surfer dude. He’s let his hair grow out and when I asked him what he’s doing now he said, “Eh, nothin’. It’s taken me a year to get off my ass and get together some head shots to do these Cons!” Heh, I guess he made enough to live on for a couple of years so he’s gonna hang out until the cash is low. What an actor! LOL

Despite the lack of spankings and nudity, I had a great time this year. I hope we can top it next year. Here’s to DragonCon 2005!! W00t!

Hair color: before and after!

I’ve had requests for the pix of my hair when it was blonde and after I put the Nuclear Red and Wildflower on it. Well, here ya go:

It’s all about the hair — I have no makeup on in either of these shots! AIIIEEEE!!

DragonCon 2004: Wow!

DragonCon 2004 definitely made up for 2003. Last year was a morass of missed panels, oversleeping and generally just sort of standing around, but THIS year! This year we made to all the panels we wanted to see, we attended a fun party @ Farshad’s (for a change) and we had a blast. We also came to know the goodness of the Con Hospitality (Hostility!) Suite. They are open 24 hrs with snacks, a soda fountain and movies running continuously. They also have a smoking section for those who don’t want to go to the smoking porch. Schweet! Oh, and I dyed my hair, as previously mentioned.

Dragon Con is again upon us!

Well, we’re 3 days out from DC 2004 (2 if you count Thursday as the first day) and I’m starting to get excited about it. The room is secure, some snacky treats are acquired and part of the shopping is done. I found some cheap yet cool clothes to shove my fat ass into, so at least I’ll have *something* to wear!

My hair is VERY blonde. The hair will be Nuclear Red and Wildflower purple on Wed morning, but it’s pretty damn blonde from the 2 hour bleaching session today. I always want to leave it blonde when I do this – which is exactly what I did a couple of years ago. My LJ icon reflects that year. But this year, I’m paying my hair chick to put the vile staining hair dye on at the salon so they can deal with the stained sink, towels, combs, etc. It’s worth it! My hair will be red on top with purple underneath and streaked throughout. :-)

It’s my theory that with hair so loud, it will detract from my ass so BIG! Har!

I’ll try to post again right before con and maybe from the con if I remember.

Well, I’ve got a busy day tomorrow. Gotta hit the hay! Ciao!

Retrograde whining

I have mentioned many times how much I detest Mercury retrogrades and this one is certainly no exception. It has sucked big donkey balls! First, the refinance had to be completely redone. Then I have to deal with the ineptitude of the Dekalb County court system on Wednesday when trying to pay for my speeding ticket I got in July. None of the phone numbers have worked for the past 6 weeks, so I get to spend a couple of hours of MY DAY standing in line at the Court Reporters office being browbeaten by the bitch assed black women that work there. After all that, I get to PAY THEM $10 EXTRA for the “convenience” of paying by phone, despite having to go in person to get my ticket put in the goddamn system in order to pay it! Then the Ford dies in the driveway with a broken timing belt and some ruined tensioners to the tune of $800 or more. On top of all that, I’ve been feeling slightly ill for the past 3 days. I am not sure if it’s strictly stress induced or if I’m fighting off a weak virus. All I know is that my stomach has been jittery and I’m very tired.

I suppose the good news is that we will close on the new refinance tomorrow afternoon, but since it’s in the middle of this LOVELY Mercury retrograde, I’m concerned about the overall outcome of it. Feh! Sometimes you can’t just stop your life because of an astrological event, but it still feels ominous when things have been sucky since the event started!
