Party in our Pants!

We’ve had a really fun productive weekend. We did yard work and ran around yesterday. I was very tired from my lack of sleep the previous 2 nights, but once we got home I got my second wind and started to feel ok. Nick got stuff to grill out, so I decided to call around and see if anyone wanted to come over. Everyone was busy or too far away or in Caroline’s case, out of touch due to a new cell phone # that I didn’t have. We decided to have a party anyway, so we turned up the stereo, started drinking and had a GREAT party with just the two of us! We also smoked some old crumbly pot that we’d had for years. It was too funny! It took me 3 times to get the damn stuff rolled up and then it wouldn’t stay lit. We finally managed to smoke enough to get high, but DAMN, we worked for it! We’ve done this before, this party for two thing. We call it our Party In Our Pants! Because, well, it always ends up there anyway! LOL

Today we got up at the crack of noon and did yard work all afternoon. Despite drinking a bunch of wine and vodka, we felt ok. Tonite we laid around the casa and watched the tube. Nick has installed his new Canon LiDE 80 scanner and is busily scanning stuff right now. Those Canons are REALLY nice scanners. Now we can start getting all our scanning projects off the ground. It also has a film/slide scanner attachment, which totally rocks!

Well, that’s it for me. I’m off to read for a bit until the sleeping pill kicks in! G’Night!

Where did September go?

I cannot believe that it’s over! Damn! It seems that DragonCon was just last week! Today is my Granny’s 84th birthday. I wish she’d see this post, but no one in my family will. Sadly, they are luddites and happy to be technologically challenged.

Time does go faster as you age, it seems. I guess it’s not bad, it makes me strive to be more productive. It’s funny that you slow down as you age but time goes faster and it’s the opposite when your 17.

I really have nothing of interest to talk about, so I’ll sign off and go read some more of Fall on Your Knees. It’s a really good read. Say what you will about Oprah, but that girl can certainly pick some awesome fiction!

G’night!

Japanfest Weekend

We had a great weekend! We went to JapanFest at Stone Mountain on Saturday with the gang (Caroline, Andrew, Bexx, Pat, Russell & Heather) to celebrate Heather’s graduation from the Medical Assistant program. After the Fest, we came back here for frozen pizzas and beer. It was great fun! We spectated at the Pat as a Mountain Man show (Pat decided to saw some privet for fun! Yay!) and then we watched Thank You Mask Man. We owe a BIG shoutout to Andy for working so hard to take Mask Man from video tape to DVD. Thanks And! We love you!! xoxox

Today Nick and I ran around to the Ghetto Dollar store, Big Lots and our new Ross before going to Movie Night. We saw Shaun of the Dead and Sky Captain – both excellent films in their respective genres. If you’ve not seen Shaun, you simply must get out of your house and see it! It is so funny! Sky Captain is as visually stunning as the trailers imply. They did a fantastic job with the CGI, of course, it’s ILM and every other company on the planet including Pixar, and the lighting of the real actors was really wonderful as well. If you like comics come to life, then again, get out of your house and see Sky Captain on the big screen. We were originally gonna see Hero, but our geeky hearts won out!

That’s all the excitement around here this weekend. It’s off to another week of Fun and Adventure in the Hood. :-)

Goodwill Book Sale

We trundled over to the Book Sale today. I was grumbling about it being held at the GoodWill Industries center over in da ‘hood rather than NorthLake Mall, but I tell ya, it’s well worth the trip to the warehouse! They have all the books organized by topic and alphabetical, as well as having popular writers in their own sections. It’s a BIG improvement over the random piles of books at the Mall. They even had an Oprah Book Club section! You know I raided that! We spent $49 and got a big box full of books. I love the book sale. It’s the only way to buy when you read as fast as we do.

Hmmm, guess it’s a good thing we bought that new bookcase! LOL

Ivan was a bastard!

Well, we aren’t as bad off as others here in the ATL, but we were in the backyard digging trenches yesterday in the deluge in an attempt to keep at least part of the river flowing thru the backyard out of the damn basement. We had about 1.5 feet of water down there! It’s just an unfinished walk-in crawlspace, fortunately, so nothing was damaged, it was just nasty.

I seem to have brought back the cold that I thought was gone. WAH! Today I’ve been stuffy and coughing again and feeling overall crappy. :-(

Nick got the day off due to no power at Nuvision, so he’s been here futzing all day. Much of Decatur was without power, so I’m very grateful that ours stayed on to keep the little sump pump going.

Today is lovely now that the sun has popped out and I look forward to a nice weekend.

Everyone have a great one!
