Miss Angela B17 Flying Fortress

I found out tonite that there’s a B-17 Bomber named after me! That’s right, there’s a B-17 named Miss Angela! How cool is that??

I was futzing around the ‘net looking for some line art and got bored, so I Googled myself for images and Miss Angela came up! Wow, I think that is the coolest thing EVER!

This edit is on Aug 17 2011. I’d like to add some more info and a pic of the art. Enjoy!

Miss Angela is located in the Palm Springs CA Air Museum. More info about Miss Angela is on John Weeks’ site. The Queen of the Sky site has a ton of B17 links for your edification.

The B17 Flying Fortress (Queen of the Sky) is an amazing and beautiful aircraft. The loss of the Liberty Belle on June 13 2011 is a tragedy to WWII Aircraft enthusiasts everywhere. I had the privilege of “meeting” the Liberty Belle in 2007 at the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport’s Family Day. She was a real beauty and she will be missed. Her loss made me cry. A lot. :(

Wow! August is half over!

Gads, where does the time go?? We’re about 2.5 weeks out from the Con and I’m getting excited about it. Not the Con, really, but the experience. The Con has no big guests this year at all. I am not even sure that there’s anyone new! I’m not surprised by this, sadly. It’s the slow degradation of what used to be a great Con.

The weekend was very productive and fun. We went out Friday night to Thinking Man and we went to FireFest in Oakhurst yesterday. In between the social outings, we worked on the house. It was a lovely weekend to spend outside!

This week is fairly slow until Friday, when we CLOSE on our REFI!! W00t! The closing is at 3pm and we plan to be in L5P by 4. There will be much eating, drinking and being merry! Next week, there is a pre-DragonCon party on Friday that we plan to attend. That’s all we have booked until the Con itself.

Hopefully, we’ll have the issues with a friend worked out by the party, but no matter what we’ll have closure. She’ll either decide to work it out or not and we’re good either way.

That’s it for this Moanday. Everyone have a great week!

Happy Friday the 13th!!

I just love this day! I didn’t even realise the date until I saw the paper this morning! W00t!

Ok, so I’m reading up on everyone’s LJ and getting really bummed. I hate it when everyone has so much drama and shit going on. Well, welcome to your 3 week Mercury retrograde… I hate these fuckers. This one started Monday and goes all the way thru Sept 2! I’m a little nervous about signing our mortgage refinance papers next Friday during the retrograde, but nothing can be done about it. There’s no way I could reschedule the damn thing for Sept! So, in any case, I’m just going to go with the “RE-” theory of retrogrades, which is that any activity that starts with the letters “re” is an acceptable activity for the retrograde. So, with that theory, a REfinance should be ok.

But, back to the LJ entries from my friends. Russ didn’t get the job offer he wanted. Caroline is STILL waiting for her man to cut the family apron strings and move the fuck up here with her.

Ah, it’s always easier to see solutions for others than it is for yourself. Isn’t that just the bullocks? I wish I could map out a plan for myself to reach my potential and be fulfilled! I mean, things are GREAT right now, but my personal growth is stymied again. ARGH. I hate these plateaus! I guess it’s like writers’ block – a thing that must be endured and will break on its own.

Well, enough of these ruminations. I’ve got stuff to do and a lovely Friday the 13th to enjoy!

I hope everyone’s weekends are just what they need. May I suggest saying your Gratefulness Prayer a few times? It works for me:

Gratefulness Prayer
Thank you for the love in my life. Thank you for the love that surrounds me. Thank you for the miracle of life that I am and for the miracle of life I see reflected all about me. Thank you for the gift of life that I am. Thank you for my perfect body, my health and vitality. Thank you for the abundance that I am. Thank you for the the richness of my life. Thank you for the money that flows to me. Thank you for the excitement and adventure of the millions of possibilities and probabilities. Thank you for the beauty and harmony. Thank you for the peace and tranquility. Thank you for the laughter and the play.

Movie Night

I love movie nights! Nick and I like to see movies at the theatre, so about once a month we’ll go to our AMC at the Mall for Movie Night. At our AMC theatre, you can pay for one movie and see as many as you can stand, so we usually go for 2 at a time.

This time we saw The Bourne Supremacy and I, Robot. The Bourne sequel was well paced, but it left me feeling like, “Eh, whatever!”. There was not a stick of decent dialog in the whole movie and none of the characters were particularly interesting. On the other hand, Will Smith’s I, Robot was GREAT! It was interesting, the dialog was very good, the characters were fleshed out and the story was very well done. I’d see it again. Will has a shower scene early in the movie and lemme tell ya, that boy is gorgeous!! He has kept much of his Ali physique – for those of you who aren’t familiar, he put on about 30 pounds of muscle for his role in Ali and honey, it’s in ALL the right places. Whew! Jada is a lucky woman! :-)

Also, I’d like to thank Caroline for a fabulous weekend! We had too much fun! In addition, her helpful explanations about the mysteries of ‘hood living were very enlightening. Caroline is somewhat of an authority, since she grew up in the New Orleans ghetto. Thanks, girlie!!

Gotta keep something in here!

I noticed that I only had one entry showing this week, which means that I’ve become lax in my blogging of late. That’s what happens when I’m distracted by one crappy development after another. Bah!

I’m SO GLAD that July is over. It sucked and I was mostly not happy during much of it. Neither was Nick. He even neglected to pay the fucking bills!! Yes, that’s right, we paid about $60 in fees simply because he forgot to click the buttons online to pay them. Talk about an out of whack month! It’s not like we didn’t have the money – which would have been a whole different thing!

So, anyway, stuff going on plus we had to crank out 3 pieces of marketing materials for Rob on the fly last week. We’ve been busy in addition to semi whacked out.

We tried out our rolls for DragonCon on Saturday and they were truly underwhelming. I’ll have to have at least 2 to get anything. ::sigh:: So, now I have to find more. Dammit! We’re exactly a month away and I am getting the preCon jitters already. I always LOVE the last few weeks before the Con. So much going on, so much to do. It’s great.

Which reminds me, I need to adjust my room reservation. Gotta go!
