Friday wrap!

Ahh, Friday! Went to lunch with Ms Stormy today – FUN! I’m so glad we got to go out and talk and work shit out. Nothing like sharing family horrors to draw us closer! :-)

I should be working on the online mag, but dammit, now I’ve had beer… Work will not be happening, I’m afraid. Feh.

Today’s Kevin and Kell reminded me of being in Knoxville:

Here is a wonderful shot of our boil victims from last week:

Mudbugs say SAVE US!!
Mudbugs say SAVE US!!

One of the crawfish made a break for it – he got about 8 ft from the bag when I found him in the yard! I forgot to grab the camera and take his pic, but when we put him back I clearly heard “ATTICA!!!!!” ;-)

And for your final Friday fun, this is a van we passed on our way to the boil – this is NOT made up!

Mmmm ferrety salsa!

I must have some Ferrety Salsa! Go check them out!

Have a great weekend, folks!

Weekend = Win!!

This weekend was so much fun! Saturday we attended the first boil of 09 up at Russ & Janel’s. There was hu-YOOGE fresh caught Gulf Shrimp, about 40# of mudbugs (crawfish) and all the fixins. The shrimp were so incredible – they tasted like lobster, I kid you not. NOW I understand why all the NOLA ex-pats complain about the seafood here. I’ve been eating Chinese shrimp for so long, I’d forgotten what real shrimp tasted like! And, they were $2.50 or so a pound! Amazing!

We did miss the damn LEAP show (again) but it was totally worth it. I really needed some time with my friends. It was teh awesome.

My lovely Aunt Flo was even nice enough to wait until Sunday to show up! So, yesterday was low energy for me, but fortunately I don’t have a lot going on. Gonna start on the magazine today, but that’s all I got at the moment. I’m still not feeling great today, but I’ll sit here and geek all day, which needs to happen anyway. I also need to start organising the tax crap. FAIR TAX!! FAIR TAX!! Income taxes are so stupid and wrong. Sign the petition, would you?

If you do the twitter thing, I’m using it again. I’m slowly warming up to it, but I still think it’s more for marketing than anything else. I’ve got buttons over there on right. (For posterity or when I change the layout: misangela and thinkweasel are the usernames for Twitter.)

Happy Ostara!

Or First Day of Spring, whatever! It has been a pretty day – albeit a bit chilly.

This year has had its difficulties but I still feel that it’s brimming with opportunities, too. Spring is the time to clean out the old outdated stuff from your inner and outer sanctums!

In that vein of cleaning out, I put a bunch of crap on eBay today. 2 prs shoes, a butter dish and a box o’ cat collars from the Bernie days. She’d lose one a week, so I bought a box of 25 for cheap. DJ still loses his, but not as much as he used to, so to eBay they go.

Getting control of our bad habits is high on the list, too. Breaking bad habits is hard to do, but with Spring bursting all around me, I feel like I really want to try again to cut back smoking and alcohol. It’s extra hard for Scorpios to give up their vices, but it’s either cut out alcohol or remain fat. As for smoking, it’s just not good for us, especially the heavy cigs we smoke. I find as I cut back one vice, it’s easier to cut back the other. Wish me luck!

Now, it’s time to watch the BSG marathon and specials leading up to the big finale and hang out with my sweetie who’s not feeling all that great. Ciao!

Friday randoms

Cluelessness abounds in D.C. Just how stupid are our “leaders”? Um, stupid enough to want to essentially shut down Wall Street, whose whole pay schedule is pretty much bonuses. Look, idiots, ex post facto legislation is prohibited by the Constitution. You know, that oldy mouldy paper that contains the tenets of our Democracy? JAYSUS. Not only will this retarded legislation gut the pay of practically everyone on Wall St, but it will run off every executive with any sense as well. It will also encourage banks and other entities to opt out of the government money just to keep its executive staff, thus blocking the flow of monies available to lend – since ZERO “stimulus” cash will get to them. Is this not the exact opposite of what is needed?

Krauthammer has a great Op-Ed piece on this stupidity.

Luckovitch’s cartoon is teh funneh today! LULZ!

And a quote from Jim Wooten of AJC:

“Remember. What Congress does to rewrite contracts…[and create] confiscatory tax laws targeting those who got bonuses at AIG, it can do to you. […] My freedom from government tyranny is worth more than $165 million. This is politicians at their worst.”

RIGHT ON.

Ok, enough of this happy crappy. Off to do housewifey stuff. :-)
