Grrr!

This week is starting off ROUGH!

Yesterday was all about driving, driving, driving all over hell’s half acre doing errands. The only bright spot was that I got to do it with Nick.

Today starts off with a lovely speeding ticket from the speed trap on Memorial Drive. I and a dozen other citizens got to make donations to the Dekalb county treasury. Then I can’t get the fucking inventory done at home because I forgot to get a file off the computer at Decatur and the managers are totally incompetent and unable to email the fucking thing to me. Now I have to go BACK to fucking Decatur to get the goddamned file before I can be done with inventory. Goddammit! Then I have to fight traffic in 90º heat to go pick up the inventory and payroll crap from Northlake.

THEN I get the joy of payroll for 100 employees, some of which invariably will be new and undocumented by the slack assed managers. That’s about an 8 hour job.

Fuckity fuck FUCK.

On top of all this, I have PMS from hell and I am running on about 5 hours of decent sleep last night due to menstrually induced insomnia.

Someone SHOOT ME.

Or at least give me some good drugs…

Oh so tired!

It’s been a very fun and productive July 4th weekend for us! We had Movie Night on Friday. We saw Spider-Man 2 and Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban and both were very good.

Saturday we did massive amounts of yard work. It’s been raining for about 3 weeks straight, so the yard was a bit out of control. I mowed the front and back yards while Nick did all the trimming. Nick also cleaned out the gutters – a truly icky job! After all this work, we drug our tired starving asses to Crescent Moon for a lovely dinner. We came back home and hung out with Rebecca for a bit. We decided to go ahead and shoot our fireworks since the weather guy said it would surely rain on Sunday… of course it didn’t, but had I held onto the damn things, it SURELY would have rained. Feh!

Sunday was Beth and Robert’s July 4th Party, which is always a fun event. I made Angela’s Shrimp Cups™ and artichoke dip. We hung out, ate, drank beer and ate some more. We walked up to Trackside to see the Decatur fireworks show around 9:30. It was FAB, as always.

Today, despite our fatigue, Nick went to work for a while and I cleaned the bathroom. When he returned we washed both cars and waxed them. By the end of that, we were too tired to think so we ordered chinese and we’re currently vegging out to Stargate. We’ve got to stay awake for the Stargate special tonite about the new show called Stargate Atlantis. It’s gonna be a task to stay awake, I can tell ya.

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Shout out!

I’ve got to give a shout out to Mr Ian Trowell of the UK for solving a big question I’ve had for years! In a story that I will tell here in the near future, I’ll talk about a fair ride that I rode at the Tennessee Valley Fair back in the 80s. I could describe the ride, but I didn’t have a name. Well, after a few hours of internet scrounging, I came across a site dedicated to fair (or carnival) rides. They didn’t have the ride on the site, but there was a contact email that led me to the ever so helpful Mr Trowell.

So, the ride is here, if you’d like to see it. It’s the Skydiver and it’s fun as hell.

You’ll hear more about it in my story very soon.

I just wanted to give public thanks to Ian for his wonderful help! Thanks, Ian!!

Ronnie & Ray, RIP

I didn’t chime in earlier this week when Ronnie Reagan died, so I guess I’ll do it now. I have mixed feelings about him. I was in high school during the first term and I recall Reaganomics, Star Wars, Iran-Contra, all of it. I didn’t like his policies then and I still don’t now. I’m sure he was a great guy personally, but I feel that he left us quite a mess of deficits to clear up in his wake. I don’t think he really understood most of the things that his administration did. Being an upbeat guy who could give a good speech and make people at ease is a good thing, but that can’t outweigh the damage his 2 terms did to the economy.

Now for Ray Charles, who died this afternoon. He had been sick for some time with liver disease, to which he finally succumbed. By all accounts, he was a nice guy and a very talented musician. He broke down barriers of race, disability and musical genres in an age where those things just weren’t the norm. He was a legend and he will be missed. Go on, now, Ray. You’ll live forever in your legacy. Godspeed.

Routine and stress

Bleh. I hate routine sometimes! I mean, it’s good in many ways, but it’s also stifling. It makes me fall into bad habits like coming home and crashing onto the couch!

We’ve got lots of parties going on through June. Every weekend except the last one is booked. It’s fun and it’s also a little stressful since we have lots of stuff to do on weekends like mowing the yard, cleaning the house, etc. This weekend we have Amanda’s going away party and we’re trying to go to Knoxville as well, which I just realized will NOT work. I have payroll AND inventory next week and I can’t be gone on Tuesday. Fuck. Well, they’ll just have to wait until the last weekend of June, I guess. ::sigh:: See? STRESS.

Our deck party is the 19th, so I’ve got lots to do for that next week as well. Yah, the family is just gonna have to manage for another couple of weeks without seeing us because I just can’t do it.

Ugh. Now I’m stressed out again. Methinks the beers in the fridge are calling…
