I was in an upload frenzy on Friday and uploaded a ton of pix that were just laying around here on my Mac. Most of them are in the Random album but there are a few in the art album.

I did get my hair cut on Friday… Sucks. Why do I go back to Keith, knowing good and well that he does a decent job only about 1/3 of the time? I *like* him and I wish he was better. But alas, no. So, I think I shall start cutting my own hair – the front 2/3 I can do fine and then go to SuperCuts or somewhere cheap and get the back trimmed. I can’t do the back very well. Now I understand why my mother cuts her own hair. I know what I want, I just can’t get these “professionals” to do it. I’ve got visual aids, I point out where I want the weight lines, all to no avail. Yes, I know about the Paul Mitchell school – and I also know it’s all the way across town where I rarely go. I’ll go to all that trouble and end up with a crap haircut just the same. Hell, I can get that 5 minutes from here. Feh. I think it’s time to try cutting it myself. It certainly can NOT be any worse than what I pay $45 for.

We saw Coraline yesterday around lunchtime. WOW! I have never seen 3D used so judiciously. Very impressive. It’s totally worth the $10.50. (Side note: the PC guy in the Mac vs PC commercials [John Hodgman] was not only the Cat in Coraline, but has been on Battlestar Galactica as well. Aaaand he is a Mac user in real life!! LOL Even PC is a Mac user! I love it!)

On the way back, we stopped at New Odessa, the Russian/Polish grocery at the corner of Clairmont and Briarcliff. We spent $50 on Polish kielbasa, hard spicy salami, pickled vegetables, frozen Russian Raviolis (Pelmeny), homemade piroshkis and various cookies and candies from the bins. The kielbasa is really good, the piroshkis were tasty and the various treats are weird but good. The strangest is a dark chocolate covered prune with walnut (this is similar). It is VERY good. We got these, these, and some like this. There is nothing in English there, but the staff is very helpful. They have Russian/Polish wines and beers, too.

Valentine’s Dinner at James Joyce was deelish. Nick has the photos – which I assume he’ll post. Lobster Bisque, a lovely salad with strawberries, blue cheese and candied walnuts, Beef Tenderloin with crispy fried potato cake, mahi mahi with polenta and chocolate lava cake for dessert. And a bottle Cristalino, too! Yum! Thanks to my sweetie for a lovely evening! MUWAH!

We came back and watched Demon Seed (so bad it’s good!) then in our drunken state thought that trying to watch 2001: A Space Odyssey would be a good idea. Not! Damn that is one of the slowest, most boring movies I’ve ever seen! We got through about 2/3 of it. I will say, though, that the models and filming techniques they used were really astounding for 1968. Other than the sheer technical aspects, though, this is one ponderous movie to endure. Bleh.

Today has been cleaning up from the medicine cabinet install and organising crap that has gotten out of place. I’m tired and plan to go crash out for a bit.

Tomorrow is comix and lunch at The Porter. I believe Taylor is joining us! Yay!
