Overdue catch up post

Unfortunately, I have a few political rants that will probably not even see the light of day because they’ll be old news by the time I get around to posting them! Grr!

OMG, there has been so much going on! Hence my not posting for a week+. Ok, lessee, going back to pre Memorial day…

We did an art door for the Decatur Arts Festival again this year. The door garnered $80 for the Arts Alliance, which is a good price for a “non-artist” entry. The “real” artists such as Erin Smith and James Dean (Pete the Cat) get hundreds for their doors, but everyone else’s usually go for around $50. I’m pleased. Sadly for me, the extra door that was propped against the side of the carport got caught in a breeze and bashed in the OTHER fender of my poor Honda. So, the right fender must be replaced to the tune of $200 or so. DAMMIT! As far as I’m concerned, the Arts Fest cost me $200 this year. Grr. Needless to say, I’m NOT painting the Honda right away, for fear of something else happening to the poor thing. ::sigh::

I also got some bad news last week. Andy called to tell me that Hobbes is sick. He has feline fatty liver syndrome and it’s pretty serious. I’m worried to death. There’s lots of info about fatty liver syndrome (google it), but the bottom line is that Hobbes must be force fed to stop the liver from clogging up with fat and if he does not get enough calories, his liver will fail and kill him. On top of that, force feeding by hand is not very effective, so most cats must be admitted to the hospital and fed through a tube to reverse the problem. So far, Andy is trying to feed him at home, but from what I’ve read, the odds of that working are not great. The thought of poor Hobbies having to be in the hospital for weeks just makes me cry. It sucks balls to be all the way over here when they need me in CA. It. Just. Sucks. ::sob::

Today has been a whirlwind of running between the two Moons, meetings, TRAFFIC and almost missing payroll. I didn’t realise that it HAD to be in by 4:30pm when I got home at 3:30. By the time the Payroll1 server would let me in, it was 3:45 or so. I had to do the normally 1.5-2 hour payroll in 35 freaking minutes. Now I’m tired and stressed out.

On that note, I am outta here. I need to have a glass of wine and decompress a bit.

  1. i force fed nigel for about 2 months when he first got sick. the vet we used to see in nola gave me a horse syringe and this foul liquidy food.

it isn’t as bad as it seems, once you get the hang of positioning the cat properly. i also found that it was FAR easier to do less more often that to try and cram the suggested 1/2 can at a time down his throat.

if he’s interested, i can email him the nigel method – it takes a little practice, but nigel recovered pretty rapidly once we got some weight back on him, and he’s only had one recurring episode.
