Hello Gaylord Michigan! (Hmm, that’s certainly not Detroit…?)

Look at how nicely they lined up! I did not do that on purpose! :-)

Hi, everyone, please say hello in the comments! :-)

FYI: broken links

If you are reading any archives, you may run into missing pics or other broken links (63 of them to be exact). I’ve tossed the old MT archives off the server and I have to manually fix all the broken links. When I migrated from MT, many of the pics and links to older posts did not migrate into the WP database, so I’ve got to relink everything that didn’t transfer. I’m grateful there’s only 63 left to do, but it may take me a week or two to get them all fixed.

That is all.

Weekend = Win!!

This weekend was so much fun! Saturday we attended the first boil of 09 up at Russ & Janel’s. There was hu-YOOGE fresh caught Gulf Shrimp, about 40# of mudbugs (crawfish) and all the fixins. The shrimp were so incredible – they tasted like lobster, I kid you not. NOW I understand why all the NOLA ex-pats complain about the seafood here. I’ve been eating Chinese shrimp for so long, I’d forgotten what real shrimp tasted like! And, they were $2.50 or so a pound! Amazing!

We did miss the damn LEAP show (again) but it was totally worth it. I really needed some time with my friends. It was teh awesome.

My lovely Aunt Flo was even nice enough to wait until Sunday to show up! So, yesterday was low energy for me, but fortunately I don’t have a lot going on. Gonna start on the magazine today, but that’s all I got at the moment. I’m still not feeling great today, but I’ll sit here and geek all day, which needs to happen anyway. I also need to start organising the tax crap. FAIR TAX!! FAIR TAX!! Income taxes are so stupid and wrong. Sign the petition, would you?

If you do the twitter thing, I’m using it again. I’m slowly warming up to it, but I still think it’s more for marketing than anything else. I’ve got buttons over there on right. (For posterity or when I change the layout: misangela and thinkweasel are the usernames for Twitter.)

Cell phone monopolies

I would totally have an iPhone if it wasn’t tethered to AT&T. It’s bad enough that I’m forced to use AT&T’s crap land line and DSL service! AT&T is the world’s worst ISP and not much better as a wireless provider. Here in Atlanta, if you call a cell and you get “We’re sorry, the network is busy right now. Please try your call again later.”, you know you’ve gotten ATT. My land line is incompatible with ATT’s own cell phones, apparently, because I get an echo half the time when someone with an ATT cell phone calls on my land line.

ATT could not handle the SXSW convention last weekend due to the iPhone and wireless usage around Austin TX. They crash and burn every year when DragonCon hits town. Clearly ATT is not the best choice for all this traffic, but their exclusive deal with Apple has made them the only game in town. Very unfortunate.

Hopefully, the FCC will introduce some new regulations that will abolish or at least reduce the amount of control cell phone service providers and cell phone companies have to restrict access to networks and applications.

ATT, of course, is very much against any moves to restrict exclusivity, as the iPhone has boosted their market share substantially. Plus, they may have to actually, um, work to make a better service if iPhone users could opt out of their crappy network. This is how ATT justifies its exclusivity (try not to choke on your lunch):

AT&T believes that exclusive deals actually drive other carriers’ innovation. “Exclusive arrangements are an important form of competition,” AT&T said in a statement.

HAHAHAHA! Yah, I’ll just bet ATT thinks that. Exclusivity means that ATT can continue its sucky service, horrid “customer service” and overall shitty attitude and rake in the iPhone cash without lifting a finger. If the exclusivity was lifted, ATT would be left in the dust by better providers such as Sprint or Verizon.

So, I have my fingers crossed that the FCC will break up the Apple/ATT lovefest soon so I can get an iPhone. SWEET!

I don’t mind lurkers, really, it’s just funny to me. I mean I don’t post lots of comments to blogs I read, but I do comment occasionally. When someone spends tons of time here and reads dozens of posts, I would think that at least a HI might be in order… But I guess there are some shy folks out there. Don’t be shy! Say HI!

This time round, we’ve got the following new visitors to the blog – HI!
Williamston, SC
Escondido, CA
Brampton, Ontario Canada

And of course the feed from FaceBook, too, welcome FB users!

I’m seeing many hits for Neat Receipts, which I do not hate anymore, but hope they keep upgrading their software. I still see many hits for the hamseh tat and the cow cat rugs, too. Funny! But, really, just biz as usual. Carry on!
