Relapse and Windows III show

I claimed victory too soon with the allergies. I had a relapse Friday and yesterday I had about 50% of my voice. Stormy gave me a zyrtec and that helped a little – at least I slept with getting up only once to de-snot. ::sigh:: I haven’t had allergies this bad in probably a decade. Bleh. So far today I’ve taken nothing and I’m doing ok other than no voice. I’ve got to go pick up the windows in a little while and I plan to get more drugs while I’m out. I guess I’ll get some generic zyrtec and more liquid expectorant and decongestant – TUSSIN, BAYBEE!! I tell you, that shit will get you feeling trippy if you take it for a few days. I can see how the Robotrippers got the idea. :-)

So, we went to the MINT show last night and it was dead. They had it the same weekend as the Inman Park Festival, which guarantees epic FAIL. They scheduled like this for a show last year with the same result: dead show. It was just us artists but no buyers. I’m certain no windows sold and we can go get ours today. It’s ok with me, actually, I like my Wisteria window and I plan to give it to Janel if she wants it. It *is* pretty big, however and she may not have room for it. Janel, let me know!

I just finished mowing the back yard and feel pretty good, actually. All the weeds are now an even height so it actually looks like YARD! Heh! My bearded irises are finally blooming this year. I guess they heard me when I was threatening to dig them all up if they didn’t start blooming! LOL It’s survival of the fittest in my yard: either flourish or die! And I’m not gonna fuss over anything, either. That stupid Lincoln Rose that Heathen planted is still alive and has some blooms on it – Yay! I don’t do anything special for it. Good thing it bloomed, it was gonna get dug up, too. I am pretty sure plants can understand English… The “dead” butterfly bush came back to life when I planted it. Thanks for the tip, Sonya! It was nothing but a stick! Crazy.

Off to shower and get ready to pick up the windows. ::sneeze sneeze:: And get more drugs!

Atlanta Cartoonists/Web Comics

We are starting a meetup group for anyone interested in the comics business – either hand drawn or web comics – or both. This group will meet monthly (hopefully) at various venues around town. I will line up a speaker or at least have a theme for each meeting. I hope to get started in June!

Please join us at Criminal Records in L5P for Free Comic Book Day, Saturday May 2nd. We will do our meet n greet around 2-3pm. There will be a sign up sheet at Criminal at the Comics desk, so please sign up when you get your free comics.

Feel free to email me (misangela at telepath dot com) if you have any questions or want me to put you on the list via email. :-)

Family update

I got a call from my brother today. My Gran is in hospital. It’s not a surprise, she’s been going downhill at a steady rate for the last couple of years. She refuses to take any medications, refuses to eat and basically sleeps 20 hours a day. My uncle found her incapacitated and took her in. She is dehydrated, her blood pressure is out of control (no meds, remember) and they think she had a small stroke. They are talking about putting her in a nursing home to rehabilitate… Bad idea. That will only seal the deal, I’m afraid. I’ve been feeling very clearly that she will be gone soon. I think by the end of the year. I’ll miss her, but on the other hand, she’s clearly DONE with this gig and just wants to move on. She talks about my dead grandfather just about every time we see her now, which is the first sign that she’s ready to go.

I had to remind my brother that I’m not speaking to June (my mother) at the moment, so if he’d kindly keep me in the loop, I’d appreciate it. My Gran is her mother, you see, and June will certainly not call me. He said he would keep me informed. We’ll see.

My father is still recovering from his gall bladder surgery. My brother tells me that he is anemic – no big surprise there, he looks pale as a sheet. It’s partially due to his not eating anything. What is with these people and not eating? I obviously did not get that gene. I’m sure it’s depression that is not being addressed by their inattentive doctors.

Yanno, it’s a wonder that I’m not a complete basket case, considering the questionable gene pool I’m from. Which is reason #4519 for not reproducing. Family = wart on ass of humanity.

To end on a better note, I am feeling much better today, it appears that I’ve beaten the pollen/crud that had me in its crutches for two days. I had a fever (for me, 99ºF is high) and it finally broke this morning. Yay! I’m at about 65%, so not dancing in the streets, but able to sit here and do webby things. Still don’t feel like chatting, however, so skip the phone calls, please. :-)

Why now?

So the pollen counts are past their peak and now I get completely beaten down by snot. WTF? I started feeling funky yesterday afternoon and ended up not sleeping AT ALL last night due to a big solid wad of snot trying to suffocate me. Clearly I did not take enough drugs. :-(

So, today I am completely out of it: sore all over, headache, tired as hell and of course, still snotty.

Damn I so want to move to the desert. I can take the heat better than this pollen crap.

Don’t bother calling me today, routine callers. I’ll not be answering the phone and will most likely be sleeping all afternoon. If you do call and wake me, well, you know how cranky I am…

I feel like little bitty rat turds…

Big weekend!

Thanks to all that joined us Saturday. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves – some more than others (Dave, I’m looking at you! LOL). I’d gotten my drink on Friday night (damn that never ending VAT of box wine!) so I didn’t really drink that much Saturday. But I kept busy with the cooking and hostessing, so it was all good.

Super Special shout out to Caroline (et al.) for bringing that AWESOME boudin. OMG, we are totally addicted. Both the pork and the crawfish types were deelish! Someone needs to send me the links for ordering it or where to find it locally. YUM!

I took in my Wisteria window and Stormy’s The Overseer window to MINT today. Here is The Overseer:

Well, off to beddie! G’night intertubes!
