I got ahold of the opt out number for those annoying “prescreened offers” for credit cards and insurance that you get in the mail every day: 888.567.8688.
It supposedly removes you from the credit bureaus’ lists for 5 years. Let’s hope so! :-)

I noticed that I retired my Fairy Goth Mother persona this time last year (because of the losers in the previous post) and I think I want her back.
The fact is that I do fuss over everyone like a Jewish Mothah and I don’t see that changing. It’s just me. Certain almost 21 year olds who live in England will just have to deal with it. :-)
So, after a year of being retired, I am proudly bringing back the FGM!!
Long live FGM!
And get ready for some FGM clucking and fussing over you all, bitches! :-D
Gods, to listen to Palin, you’d swear you were watching Fargo, doncha know! I kept thinking that she had an upper Midwest accent, then I read that she was raised in Alaska. I didn’t think Alaskans sounded like that, so I investigated and she does have a Fargo accent!
The annoying accent is due to her family (from Idaho) moving to an area in Alaska that was populated by midwesterners during the Depression, so the accent came with them. It’s almost as annoying as that flat nasal Upper Peninsula (aka Yuper) accent of Michigan.
In any case, her strong accent puts me off – it’s so strong it seems fake! Of course, all very strong accents sound fake to me if they are used by a politician. Heh. Being from the South, I’ve grown up with annoying accents – yes, I find a strong Southern accent just as annoying as a strong Northern one – so accents are sort of a hobby of mine.
When I was messing around with the music business, doing recording and such, I got rid of much of my Southern accent, but it comes back easily. I like to try to teach Southern to my California friends – it’s so comical! For instance, the Southernism “stink eye” should absolutely be pronounced “stank ah” (it means a dirty look, for those who are Southern impaired). But just try to get a Californian to say “stank ah”. Ha! It’s really fun! It’s equally as fun with a Yankee, but Californians try harder to do it right. LOL
Heh, having fun with accents should be everyone’s pastime. My mother is notorious for getting her knickers in a knot whenever someone makes fun of her accent (very strong East Tennessee), which I find stupid. When we had a steak house in St Joseph MO, my mother would be very defensive with the locals when they’d (good-naturedly) poke fun at her accent. Granted, my mother is always defensive about everything, but the appropriate response would be to make fun of their accent right back. It’s not like they don’t have one, oh yah. They are very nasal and flat – not as bad as Yupers or Minnesotans, but distinctive nonetheless. Very strong, long I’s.
Anyway, everyone on the planet has an accent. You can dampen it down like TV news anchors and movie actors do, but it’s still there. You know Julia Roberts gets just as Southern as the rest of us when she visits family in Georgia. I drop down into East Tennessee when I talk to my grandmother on the phone (she actually can’t understand me on the phone anymore unless I slow down and match her accent) or visit my family. Nick becomes Guido when he visits his family in Detroit.
The point is, accents can be annoying but they are a part of everyone. Drop yours, learn a new one, make fun of Yankees, make fun of Southerners. Let’s just not take it too seriously, doncha know! :-)
I noticed that it’s almost a year to the day that we scraped some barnacles off our hull. Yes, we gave Heathen and her minion the boot a year ago. Of course, there was the suicide incident (hers, and very fake, of course) a few months ago, but other than that stupidity we’ve been happily demon- and moocher- free.
I’m telling you, there is nothing more liberating than scraping off barnacles. It’s amazing how fast you’ll move without that drag. You’ve got to do it, people. Just make a decision and get rid of the hangers on who slow you down, make you unhappy, drive you crazy, mooch off you, feed off your life force, etc.
It’s the best thing we ever did for ourselves. It’s interesting to note that all the barnacles we’ve scraped off over the years are exactly where we left them: crazy, broke, moochers, backstabbers, losers, addicts. We can see no discernible development in them at all. This is how I know we did the right thing. We are moving forward and they sit there whining about how life is unfair. (You all know who you are and I sincerely hope you read this blog. You should know better than to run your mouth at MY party and get away with it. Yah, I’m talkin’ to YOU, LOSERS.)
So, scrape away my fellow ships! You will be happy you did and you’ll see that it’s worth the minute of pain it takes to do. :-)
We have located Nirvana for those who live for awesomely delicious food: Fox Bros. Bar B Q in L5P. We had a hankerin’ for some BBQ yesterday so we headed to Fox Bros. Since we’d eaten there last, they added some dishes to the menu… But there is only one dish that you simply MUST have. It is the melding of all that is wonderful about BBQ and Southern cooking. It is the Fox Bros Burger. Sadly we ate it before thinking about pictures, but here’s the menu description (parentheses mine):
“Fox Bros Burger: Chopped brisket with bacon, pimento cheese (which is grilled to the bun!), jalapeno mayo, tomato, red onion and pickles.”
Sounds good, right? OMG, you have no idea. We saw god. The burger is HUGE and very messy and so delicious you won’t know what to do with yourself. You will smile for hours after you snarf it down. Trust me, if you like BBQ, you simply must have this! If you’ve not been to Fox Bros yet, then get your ass over there and order the Burger. You will NOT regret it. You’ll be stuffed to the gills, but you’ll be happily stuffed. Man!
