Ghetto Paint Job finale

So, they “finished” my car. It is mostly shiny, as promised, but naturally the fine details were not handled. I’ll have to wax it and perhaps even use some compound to fix the places where they got over zealous with the buffer and left scratches. I’ll have to clean the clear coat off all the windows. I’ll have to toothbrush the compound out of all the crevices.

Pretty much as I expected. But overall, for $475, the job is acceptable. It’s not the paint that’s the problem, it’s the complete inability to attend to the details of the job. The paint itself is gorgeous Honda Milano Red (R-81) with blue/gold sparklies in it. It looks wonderful.

My final score for the Ghetto boys is 75. :-)

Kate’s Art Show

The show last night was a success. I’m not sure how much she’ll sell, but the party was well attended – around 20 people – and I’m happy with that considering the lack of advertising, etc. We left the party around 10:30 or so and headed to the EARL to drop Kate off. Kate actually rode with her friend Juliana, but they followed us over there. As we were driving away, Nick said he really wanted to go back… so we did.

Well, you know how the rest of the evening went, don’t you? Of course you do! We closed down the bar and tottered home around 2:30am. On the way, I decided that our late night deserved the proper send off so we went to WaHo in Avondale Estates. W00t! Great idea! The bacon was absolute perfection and we slept like babies when we finally got to bed around 3:30am. :-)

We slept our ass IN today, too! We finally got up around noon. The hangover wasn’t bad, but I do have some crampy sore muscles from dehydration. Nothing a bit of Gatorade can’t fix.

Tonite we have Lisa’s birthday party at Kobe Steaks – our Dec 15 tradition. I can promise you that this evening will NOT be a late one! :-)

Busy Sunday

We got the biggest piles of leaves mulched + bagged or composted. I got the bedspread and couch covers washed. We put away the chairs and umbrellas from the deck. Nick cleaned the gutters and hung the house xmas lights.

Then we came in and I made a deeelish dinner of chicky breasts stuffed with ham and whole grain dijon sauteéd then smothered in cream of chicky soup w/ dijon, then topped with a bit of parm and cheddar jack cheese and put under the broiler for a minute. YUM!

Nick finished trimming the tree while we watched various shows from the Magic Box.

Now I’m off to bed to await that bitch Aunt Flo to arrive overnight. I hope I get some sleep. :-/

Postcard Pinup show

We did the pinup show at Mint Gallery last night. My cards didn’t sell, but Nick sold one each of I’ve Got a Secret and Murphy’s Law. :-)

My pieces are photos I took at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. I took them into Photoshop and made them monochrome then ran the Ink Outlines filter on them. Once that was done I cropped them and printed them out on cold press watercolor paper. Then I took the original photos as a guide and handpainted the postcards with watercolors. Here they are:

Nick used a pic I took of DJ on the deck, a photo taken by his Dad in 1971 (Dog and cat, entitled “I’ve got a secret”.) and his Murphy’s law piece. Here they are (Sorry for the flash on DJ. The laser ink is rather shiny.):

It was really great to be in a show even if mine didn’t sell. I got lots of compliments. And we won 2 tix to Dad’s Garage as well as a $50 Gift Cert from some chi-chi place in Va Highland. If they gave a $50 gift cert, I’m sure their stuff is too pricey for me, but I’ll check it out to see.

It was a very fun night!
