A very good suggestion!

My sweetie gave me a great suggestion today as we were sitting on the couch watching I Love the 80s on VH1. I was telling some more of my rock-n-roll stories from my brief stint in the concert industry back in 1985 and he made the comment that I should write down those stories since they give more of my background and couple of them are actually funny.

So, I intend to start writing those stories (as well as some other little tales from my childhood) and putting them in the new category Archaeological Dig.

Idiots!!

Gawd, I really hate being in the South! Not that that is any news, but with the current ruckus over the 10 Commandments being in courthouses, I just wanna scream! The flap in Alabama has bled over into Georgia, so now Barrow, Habersham and Jackson counties are all wanting to INSERT the 10 Commandments into their Courthouses and other judicial venues!! Yes, if they don’t have them now, they want to ADD them. Fucking dumbass Southern Chrisitians! I was watching the news coverage of this idiocy and I jotted down some quotes from a couple of the morons who are doing the protesting.

“They [those who want separation of church and state] should not be able to dictate our religion.”
“Those atheist God-haters shouldn’t have a say in this.”

Oh yeah, these people are really on top of it, aren’t they? How removing a religious document from a judicial venue is dictating anyone’s religion is beyond me! Those pesky people who wrote the Constitution really didn’t mean to separate church and state – it had worked so well for them in England… As for the atheists, that one really made me laugh! Yep, fuck those non-Christians! If they ain’t worshippin’ OUR God, then they ain’t worth shit!

It’s embarrassing to live in the South with its racist, bible-thumping, narrow minded, ignorant masses. I wish that the media would give more coverage to those of us with a brain! But, hey, that wouldn’t be nearly as newsworthy, would it?

Easy come…

Easy go. We put a bid on the house and the asshole owner then counterbid $12,000 HIGHER than our bid!! Yes, boys and girls, his counterbid was $10,000 higher than what he had the house listed as ($92.5k). We bid $90k, which was a reasonable bid, but he apparently thinks a) we’re stupid or b) we like the house SO MUCH that we’ll pay his mortgage payment, buy the new furnace and give him $4000 just for the privilege. What a wanker!

So, it appears that the house buying is stymied for now. There was nothing else very interesting in the MLS, so I’m ready to let it go for a bit.

Tonite, Dickens has simply lost all semblance of balance. He was having a snack and just fell over. He is leaning heavily to the right, but no seizures or anything. So, he takes precedence over anything else like houses or asshole people. Tomorrow we are going to the vet first thing and I’m going to try and stay up to keep an eye on him tonite. I’m tired and feeling crappy myself, so I’m not sure if I’ll manage to stay awake, but I’m gonna try. He can’t be left out, nor can he be put in a carrier or anything. I guess I could put him in the bathroom, but I’m afraid he’ll cry all night. I’m also afraid that he’ll die in the night or something equally as awful, which is why I don’t want to sleep.

God, what an incredibly shitty day.

We made a bid!

We put in our bid of $90k for the house last night. We hope they’ll take it!

Now we have to get the thing inspected. Of course, Rick and Ricky (dad and bro) want to come look it over. We’ve talked about it and we sort of have to let them (since they are family), but we also feel that they will be totally ruthless and very honest in their evaluations. We’re also getting our friend to look it over as well. Everyone says you should get an “uninvolved” inspector, but I’ve heard too many stories of useless inspections that missed obvious shit like leaky roofs, bad wiring, etc. It seems to us that the best way to go is to get our friends/family in the biz to give us their opinions. We KNOW that they will not bullshit us or leave any stone unturned.

Different House

Ok, so the $100k home is too expensive. We looked at an $80k pre-foreclosure home that was shite. We liked a bungalow across the street from the shite house, but it’s already sold. We liked another bungalow 2 streets over, which turned out to be for RENT, not sale. Bugger. But…

We found a lovely little bungalow 2 more streets over that we just may buy!! It’s a 1951 2/1 with wood floors, central heat/air, new roof and new kitchen. It’s white aluminum siding with black edged crank out windows (which I adore despite their inherent inefficiencies) and a lovely front porch. It has a large, very private backyard with a deck for parties.

We love it. And we just may buy it. Since the other properties that we looked at are already gone, we’re very motivated to get this one. We will NOT be sorry, I’m positive of that. :-)

So, any of you that would like to cast, conjure, do readings or whatever on our behalf, please, please do so. We really want to be home owners!

More info here as I get it. Stay tuned…
