So, after all the drama of Missy being trapped and then cutting her foot, we can add one stupid ass veterinarian overdosing her. [Actually, Missy has an allergy to a certain anesthetic, which we identified and know to avoid. -A 2015]
I go to pick her up yesterday afternoon and she’s comatose. I questioned the tech who brought her out and he insisted that “She’s fine. They just gave her too much anesthesia. Put her in some fresh air and she’ll wake right up.”
Yah, right. I bring her home at 4pm and she’s still comatose at 9pm. I call the emergency vets and they tell me to bring her in.
So, here we go to the emergency room for a second night. Not only is Missy NOT ok, but her core temperature is 95º (cats should be 100-102º) and she’s dehydrated, too. The ER vet called the vet who did the surgery on Missy and come to find out, the vet wasn’t even THERE when the morons released the cat to me.
As of now, Missy’s sutures have cost
$230 first ER visit
$93 for regular vet
$130 for 2nd ER visit (and possibly more when I pick her up in a minute).
That’s $453, folks. For a few sutures. And my cat is VERY sick. Had I not been aware, she could have died. She should have NEVER been released in the state she was in. Granted, we had no idea that she’d react so badly to anesthetic, but the goddam vet should have kept an eye on her.
Oh, yes, Dearborn Animal Clinic and I will have words today. [We did and they gave me a $120 credit to offset the emergency vet fee.]
You give em HELL girl. Ive never liked Dearborn Hospital anyway. I know everyone makes mistakes but thats a biggie!
