I picked up Missy this morning from the ER. She was awake and alert – not 100%, but much much better.
The vet at the ER, Beverly Hughes (bless her heart!) kept the fees down to $120 AND took great care of my Missy. They are hella expensive, but the Dekalb-Gwinnett Emergency clinic has an all female staff that pretty much RAWKS in my book.
I did talk to Dr Cely today and she is as horrified as I that Missy wasn’t checked prior to release. She simply does not respond well to IV anesthetics and she’ll never be given them again. Had they not dropped the ball, Missy would have stayed overnight with fluids and some yohimbe to offset part of the anesthetic and she’d have been fine.
Whoa, what a long week!
Poor Missy, she’s had quite a trying few days. I’m glad the vet is taking this seriously and “chatting” with her employees. Not only could they have killed poor Missy, but this means that they are probably not paying enough attention to the cases of other kitties that go there, and thats just BAD. Bad for the kitties, and definitely bad for the business in the long run.
