Politics and Friday catch-all

Op-ed is always such an inspiration for blogging…

First: NO, the evangelical Christians DID NOT overly influence the Huckabee win in GA. The evangelical votes were fairly evenly spread. It was the FairTax voters, dumbasses! The media (AND the Op-Ed of the AJC) keeps perpetuating this myth. Don’t buy it.

Next: Awww, poor Cynthia McKinney didn’t get to represent the Greens (aka Kool Aid Drinkers) for prez. Damn, you know you’re a nutbag when even the nutbags won’t vote for ya! LOL

Next: One of my favourite Spanish profs from GSU died last week. José Montero was such a nice man! He had a Spanish accent (as opposed to Mexican or Argentinian) and his dictations were the hardest ever! I also saw that the hottie prof from back in the day, Fernando Reati, is now the Dept Head. Good job!

Next: A single password for all your crap? I think NOT. Yah, I want fucking Microsoft and Verisign to handle all my personal info. Gods, what the hell are they thinking? The truly sad part is that most dumbass people who use the ‘net will probably jump on this like white on rice… OpenID Foundation just wants in ur info so they can pwn ur life. Wake up, people, you NEVER want ONE entity to control all your sensitive info. EVER.

This will be a busy weekend for us. We’ve got ACE (which we missed the first day of today, eh, not that we’re missing much…) and Van Halen on Sunday w00t! Monday we’ll be doing our thang at Vortex. Ah, it’s nice to be home!

  1. reposted this comment from V that was on the wrong entry:

“OpenSocial–which uses open-source code to allow any participating social media site to implement a common set of application program interfaces (APIs) and create “universal” applications”

Whaaaat the hell does this mean? to everyone? I hope they dont mean that we’re all going to HAVE to participate in this thing in order to go online or get to our web-based email. The articles were none to clear about that (well, actually, they were just all in all None To Clear.)

  2. You are talking about open source CODE, which is used for programs such as WordPress used for this site. Open Source is the driving force of the internet as well as the Dashboard widgets on your Mac and many other things. Basically it opens it up so people can make modifications or plugins or widgets or whatever they like to add to the program – be it an operating system like Linux or OSX or a widget in Yahoo’s widget gallery or a blogging system like this.

“Common set of APIs” means that the program is written in a format that all the developers use and understand.

This is NOT the same thing as the OpenID bullshit being proposed by, guess who? MicroSux and Verisign in the post above. These two companies wish desperately that the internet was theirs to rule as they see fit. Verisign has screwed people all over the internet by handing over LEASED domains belonging to some poor shmuck in Des Moines to large companies that want them without a thought about it. The OpenID “initiative” is basically a ploy to get the sheeple to hand over all their info to one entity who can then SELL it to whomever they wish. Anything else they say is pure spin. If it didn’t make money, no one would want to do it, right?

Just to be clear: Open Source and OpenID are not related at all. Open Source = GOOD; OpenID = BAD.

    :-)
