After seeing Live Free or Die Hard on Sunday, we went to the little Carnival that was in the mall parking lot. We rode a ride I’ve never seen before, Cobra. Here’s a pic:
I also rode a 60 year old Ferris Wheel – the kind with metal bench seats! Like this one:
Nick managed to ride both the Cobra and the Ferris Wheel without screaming, crying OR puking! Yay! :-)
While I’m at it, I’ll show you some of my faves, although I can’t ride ’em like I used to! The vertigo from the Cobra ride gave me a headache! Here’s the Zipper. And the Scrambler. And the Tilt A Whirl (called the Tilt A Hurl by Nick, tee!!).

I’d like to note that the Skydiver as well as the Skywheel and most other rides that I thought were not in use any more actually are in service and going strong. They are strewn about the world, but I found out that there are Skydivers and Skywheels in service with various carnival companies around the US, it’s just a matter of catching the right company at the right time. Last summer I saw a Skydiver as it was being disassembled over at Northlake Mall. I don’t go over there regularly any more and I missed the damn show. Grr. I can’t remember which midway company it was because I didn’t write it down (like a dumbass), but the guy that was there filled me in on these rides. If I had more time to waste (more than the 2 hours I’ve wasted surfing around to all the various midway companies for this post) I’d track it down, but I don’t. I’ve got a headache and I think I’m done with the web for today.
