To balance the yin-yang of worky vs no worky weekends, we had to work this weekend. Which is really not as tedious as it sounds. When you work from home, truly every day is a work day of some sort.
Within our working, we did manage to get some fun stuff sandwiched in as well. Saturday we got up and worked for a few hours then went to Good Neighbor Day at Peachtree-Dekalb Airport. This year is the 100 Year Anniversary of flight in GA, so they pulled out all the stops. The airshow was outstanding! We got to meet one of the aerobatic pilots and I loved asking technical questions about how they get the aircraft to do the crazy things they do. It was too fun! Nick will have pix up soon, I’ll link to them when he does. The funny part of the show was that we ended up buying some plants for the yard as our souvenirs! The Keep Chamblee Beautiful table was selling plants so I got a black elephant’s ear, a peach Angel’s Trumpet and a bush with variegated red blooms (Rose of Sharon?). All for $10! Yay!
Saturday night, our Heather came over and played chess with Nick (no contest), hung out on the deck and fiddled with fabric. She also lobbied heavily for us to join her and her mom (+ friend) at the Renaissance Festival on Sunday. We had to pass due to our workload. She left around 2:30am – it was a very long day!
Sunday we slept in but after coffee and the paper we jumped on our projects with gusto. Nick cranked out the PAWS programme and I got about a third of Oracle up. We worked for about 3 hours before we heard from Heather, et. al., who we were meeting for lunch at Six Feet Under. So we went out for a late lunch and got back here by around 6:30pm. We were good and didn’t drink any beer with lunch, so we got right back to work when we returned and worked until 10pm.
We were very satisfied with our balance of work/socialising this weekend! It’s rare we can manage such a feat! :-)
This morning, we put in a bid for a print job with a big restaurant company. If we get it, it will totally catch us up plus give us a very nice nest egg. Not to mention that we’ll have our foot in the door with a large company who could give us lots of work! Awesome! Everyone send us “get the gig” vibes!! :-)
