The Hamseh tattoo

[Hello Googlers! This post is consistently one of the most searched ones with the terms “hamseh or hamsa”. I researched the attitude of the hamseh and YES it is sometimes seen upward as mine is. It was an artistic, not uninformed, choice. – Angela]

This piece is designed my me and I’d appreciate it if you don’t steal it. You can use it for inspiration, but don’t copy it. Please.

hamseh

It’s done in a deep mahogany like henna and the eye is blue. :-) I really like it! I added some extra swirls and the dots because mehendi always has lots of dots. Hopefully you’ll have a better tattoo artist and yours will be straight and even. :-/

  1. Hello :)

I found you through a series of journals and checked out your site. That is a beautiful tattoo and Jett is awesome!! He did a tattoo for me back in 04 when he was still at BlackCat. Anyways, just wanted to say hi and congrats on the ink.

  3. The hamseh can be displayed either way. Here is the Wiki about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamsa

As a matter of fact, I just found a Hindu version of the hamsah as a pendant that is upright. I decided upon upright because I think it looks better on my arm that way. Strictly artistic decision, but one that I did check out quite a bit before I did it.

    But thanks for dropping by.
