Whew! Glad it’s over! All in all, we had a busy fun weekend. Thursday I hosted my dinner party which was smashing, if I do say so myself. Here’s what I served:
Champagne
Layered Shrimp Dip
Cabernet-Shiraz
Field Mix and goat cheese salad
Creamy wild mushroom and roasted poblano soup
Standing Prime Rib (aka Roast Beast)
Grilled asparagus with creamy hollandaise (my recipe)
Roasted cauliflower with pine nuts and golden raisins
Boiled then roasted fingerling potatoes
Honey ginger carrots
Sauteed onion, grape tomatoes and baby peppers with balsamic vinegar reduction
Reisling Eiswein (courtesy of David)
Cookies and baklava from the German Bakery
I thank Ben, Dave, Allen and Dani for making it a great evening.
Friday we were intending to leave for KnoxVegas, but after fighting traffic to get Ben home it was 3pm and the highways were gridlocked. So, we stayed home and opened our presents instead! As I mentioned, Nick got me an iBook! W00t! I also got 2 Giant Microbes (Mono and Common Cold – see webcam for their cuteness!), a Corpse Bride figure, the new Madonna CD, throw pillows, a sweater and a B&D Cordless screwdriver, amongst some other stuff. :-)
Saturday we trekked to see the family and do Christmas with them. It was uneventful. Besides the screwdriver, Mom got us a huge Dremel kit with 80 pieces including a jigsaw and sander and a huge drill bit set. Yay! We love tools! :-)
Yesterday we trekked back and stopped off at Russ/Heather’s for dinner and more gifty goodness. We were laughing about having ham for every single meal all weekend – which we did! We had a fabulous time hanging with Russ and Heather like we always do and then we came home to our kitties. It’s always nice to come home to our little corner of the world.
It was a really fun time – but tiring! Nick is at work today and I really should be updating the Oracle site rather than sitting here on my ass writing in my blog!
So, I’m off to the living room to update oracle from the comfort of the couch with Star Trek on the tube! Mmmm wireless goodness!
