I just got my very own copy of Just a Geek today!! I bought it the other day on Amazon along with the latest Dark Tower installment: Song of Susannah. I could barely concentrate on Crescent Moon billing with the books sitting on the table behind me!
The moment I got the bills done, I tore into Just a Geek and I’m not disappointed. It occurred to me that I’ve been reading WWdN (Wil Wheaton dot Net) almost since its inception. On the heels of that realisation came another: I’ve been a web geek for 6 years now. Wow! I feel that my web design skills are far from where they should be for someone who’s had a site and built sites for others for as long as I have. I mean, my sites are accessible and compliant, but not especially kewl or cutting edge. Or edgy as Wil would say. ::sigh:: For as much talent that I have at remembering backend web design crap, I’m just not very aesthetically inclined. I HATE Flash. I think it’s ridiculous and worthless. I think ALL sites should be 100% accessible to everyone. Silly me! I actually let accessibility come before design. Well, hell, somebody’s got to!
Anyway, I digress. As I was saying, I have my own copy of Wil’s new book and this again fires my desire to meet him. I wish DragonCon would get him to come. [And they did, eventually. I’ve met him twice, I think. Not as great as one would expect, but he’s cool. -A 2015]
Go now and buy your copy of Just a Geek. It’s a great read!
