It had to happen sometime

I just had my first auto accident. Wah! I wrecked my poor little Honda, but good. :-(

I guess 25 years of no wrecks is pretty good, but still. I’d just as soon NOT had the experience.

I was pulling out of the Kroger lot on the N Decatur side, which sucks on a good day and I totally did not see a ginormous Dodge Durango coming up the road on my left. I couldn’t see him due to a big van that was in the turn lane coming into the parking lot. Scared the SHITE out of me!! Thank the gods that the guy driving the Durango was paying attention and locked it down! His skid marks were about 12 feet long. [I woke up this morning, Ap 12, and realised that despite thinking I was gonna die, I didn’t even stall my car during the wreck. How’s that for the power of the reflex: I engaged the clutch during an accident!] The impact was hard enough to knock off my sunglasses, but I’m ok.

My poor Honda, on the other hand, is not so ok. I was actually about to cry over my car being crunched rather than the wreck itself! I’m silly that way. Here’s what she looks like:

Honda damage after hit from Durango.

Also luckily, I had the window rolled all the way down, so it didn’t break. My car doesn’t have full coverage, so I’ve got to pay to get her fixed. Travelers will pay for the Durango’s bumper. The guy driving the Durango was a very very nice man [Although he and his buddy totally scammed the insurance company for “injuries” they incurred…right. -A], a school bus driver, so he was totally aware of his vehicle and the consequences. I can’t believe a truck that big could be totally hidden behind a van! I’m a lucky girl to not have a scratch on me. I’m a VERY lucky girl and I’m grateful to the gods of automobiles that I’m not road pizza. [And thankful to my car crystal!]

So, now it’s all about paying the damn ticket and paying to get my Honda repaired. The good news is that now her exterior will be all shiny new to match her pristine interior. I’ve wanted to get her painted forever, and now I get my wish! She is faded from sitting out in the GA sun for 10 years.

Well, now I shall take some analgesics to offset the soreness I’m sure to feel tomorrow and to drink a beer on the deck. I tell ya, I will not be driving in drive time traffic again any time soon! [Ap 12: I’m not sore today, either. Any soreness I have is from working out hard yesterday. I am a LUCKY girl.]
