I’ve had a big ole knot in my back since last week due to the piece of crap mattress we have. Do NOT, NOT, NOT buy anything from the Original Mattress Factory! They totally suck. This mattress is 1 year 4 months old and it’s broken down on one side and the “good” side gives us both back and neck pain. I just wrote them a scathing email for what good it will do. I think we’re going to buy a new frame and see if that helps, so I can add another $150 to the expense that this mattress has cost. Bastards! [edit 8/9/05: the frame cost $35 and I’ve retracted my warning about OMF. 2nd update 6/09: Eh, Original Mattress Factory stuff still sucks. We got the bottom of the line Serta and it’s tons better. -A]

I got bitched at for baiting the trolls… Yes, this site is public, but so’s your phone number and you wouldn’t want me calling and hanging up all day, would you? Same thing. Just because my site is public doesn’t mean that you should spend your spare time harassing me. Is that not simple common courtesy?

In other news, I’ve had to raise our bird feeders another 1.5 feet to keep Bernie from eating all the finches. Now they are so tall that I have to take them apart to get to the feeders. I’ve also got a couple of female ruby throated hummingbirds buzzing around.

We’re getting ready for our jaunt to Richmond, VA this weekend. It’s gonna be GREAT! I can tell you that I’m SO ready for a short weekend getaway. [update: Richmond didn’t happen. -A] I’m so sick of people right now I could puke. The list of people who are on my last nerve is probably longer than my arm, with the aforementioned ones at the top of the list. Grrr. I need a break!

I hope everyone has a great time at Crescent City Con! We are sorry to miss the festivities, but DragonCon is far more important to us!

My Corpse Bride costume adventure has begun. I’ve located several wedding dresses, but unfortunately my fat ass has not been able to wear an 8 for quite some time. There seems to be a large number of sized 6 and 8 wedding dresses at the thrift stores! I did buy a veil and some extra netting today and my quest for a dress continues. I’ll also need a light blue long wig if anyone has one I can borrow. :-)

Well, off to work on a client’s site. Boooooring work. Bleh.

Your lame ass story about “innocently searching for fun” is pretty much blown now, btw. You are STILL surveilling my site and I STILL DON’T LIKE IT.

Aaaaanyway, besides that, not much news. It’s hot as fuck here, as you can see by my Weather Pixie on the left. I’ve been hiding indoors as much as I can. We’re planning a roadtrip for the weekend of Aug 6th… Can’t say what it’s about specifically, but we’re off to VA. I’ll tell you all about it when we get back.

Now I want to do the Corpse Bride as a costume for DragonCon. We saw the trailer a couple of times this weekend at the movies. Anyone got an old wedding dress I can have? :-) How about a light blue long wig? It’s a good excuse to dye Nick’s hair black!!

We saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Fantastic Four – both were excellent. Charlie was absolutely delightful. I’ll write more about these over at the Books and Movies Forum.

Jimmy Doohan finally succumbed to Alzheimers and pneumonia this morning at his home. There are stories all over the place, no need to link them here.

I met him in 2001 at DragonCon and he was very sweet. I think that may have been his last con, actually. I’m so grateful to have had the honour to meet Mr Doohan!

I can’t help but think: it’s Scotty’s turn to “beam up”. ::smile::

A while back, we were getting on I-20 down in the ‘hood and we stopped at a quickie mart to get our drink on.

Nick saw Rap Snacks and we laughed our asses off about it.

We think someone should come up with a line of Thug Juice to wash down those snacks…
