Why do brides insist upon having these horrid, drawn out, break-the-bank weddings? I am SO glad that we just did an off the cuff deal instead. The big poofy eye blindingly WHITE dress, the bridesmaids, the best men. Ugh. And let’s not forget the ceremony itself, which is identical each and every time (for just about any religious type ceremony): same words said, same candles, same same same. Then there’s the reception, with the same dances, the same garter/bouquet toss, the same heinous music (Electric Slide, anyone? How about that big hit Macarena?). I know every bridezilla on the planet thinks that THEIR wedding is so special, but lemme tell ya something: if it’s in any way “traditional” then your shit is the same as everyone else’s. That is certainly not for me! And every single bridezilla will tell you “it’s for the family”. Yah, yah. Doesn’t individuality mean anything? Can’t you have a unique wedding and include the family? I don’t get it. My neighbor Emily said “fuck this!” to the traditional crap and took everyone to Jamaica instead! They were married on a cliff overlooking the ocean! Now that’s a cool wedding! I look back on our April Fool’s wedding and I’m very happy that we did it our way, with the Right Reverend Caroline presiding. It was cool and VERY fun – despite my parents showing up! :->
Oh and I know there is a special place in hell for the piece of shit wedding DJs who are compelled to play The Electric Slide and/or Macarena. They are fuckers and they should spend eternity listening to ONLY those 2 songs. What is it with wedding DJs anyway? I think they have some bizarre compulsion to play those songs – whether they are allowed or not. I’ve been to 2 weddings in a row where the bride and groom said “Hell NO! The DJ is forbidden to play those songs!” then we get the lovely experience of hearing them yet again. And WTF is with the assholes that ALWAYS dance to them?? It must be some sort of drunken group experience that Those Who Have No Life™ must perform. Jaysus gawd!!
I tried driving to Heather’s birthday dinner last night. Not a good experience. I freaked out at an intersection. ::sigh:: I just don’t like driving any more, I guess. Oh, well, everyone says it’ll pass. I hope so. But for now, I’ll be happy to let Nick be my chauffeur.
I have to drive to Northlake today and that’s ok. As long as I stay on my usual paths I do all right. For now, I’m gonna get some more done on Oracle. Hopefully they will pay the TWO oustanding invoices they owe this week.
