Why I love Green!

This post by our favourite Green is absolutely PERFECT. It’s exactly what I think (except about healthcare, which I think everyone should have access to, like schools – and apparently others feel the same way, read the comments). I did have to chime in on HSAs which are from the devil.

A quoted quote and Green’s final thought, again echoing mine:

“A Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of Government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largess out of public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that Democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy, always to be followed by a Dictatorship.” –Alexander Fraser Tytler

I hold this as an axiom, and fear that the largess of the Democratic party at the expense of the productive citizens presages the fall of the republic. With the republic falls all of the freedoms and environmental protections, and even the largess that poisoned the republic to begin with.

READ the whole post AND the commentary. Brilliant!! I love a good political discussion! They are so rare in a country full of sheeple such as ours.

Interesting stuff about Etsy.com

I just asked a question on the forum over at Etsy.com – I didn’t even know they had helpful forums! While exploring my account some more, I discovered this thing they call Alchemy. Alchemy is a way to get bids for a project you need help to do and presumably a way to offer bids to people looking for someone to help them with a project. Cool, eh?

I am totally digging Etsy so far. I got some groovy kitchen canisters off there and I am very excited to start selling jewelry and windows on there, too. If you do anything crafty or arty, I highly recommend Etsy.com to peddle your wares. There’s everything from vintage buttons to very pricey high end fine art. Check it out!

RIP Bettie Page

An icon is dead. Bettie had been sick for months and after a heart attack last week, was on life support. She finally succumbed yesterday.

Her agent had a very nice memorial up, but sadly they either let the domain expire or took down the whole site. :-(

Ah, Bettie! You did it all as a big joke and ended up being THE icon of fetish pinup. We’ll miss you!

OMFG. Religious Right Strikes Again!

I was just looking at the headlines on this site (right column, currently) and clicked on this:

Teens Experiment w/ Anal Sex, Risk Health
Experts say as social mores ease, more young heterosexuals are trying anal sex.
ABC News Wed, 10 Dec 2008 08:14:52 -0500

Oh? Anal sex is new, is it? Well, it’s good to know I’m on the cutting edge with something!! ::snicker::

And I adore the way this article is totally slanted towards how bad and nasty anal sex is and how you’ll get AIDS and die if you do it. Lovely quote:

“In the Hasbro study, females who had anal sex were more likely to be living with their partners, to have two or more sexual partners and to have previously experienced coerced intercourse. Males who engaged in this behavior were more likely to identify themselves as being homosexual, bisexual or undecided.”

Oh, so anyone who does this is a whore or gay? Rilly? Damn, no BIAS there, eh? And the last line of the article is precious, too:

“But it’s not just rubbing elbows,” she [Kuriansky] said. “Anal sex is a serious public problem.”

It’s articles like this that prove the media is not liberally biased. Just damn. It’s run by old white men and women who tchuck tchuck at all the crazy kids these days. It’s no different than it’s always been. Humans are horny and we’ll put various things in various orifices for fun. It’s been that way as long as we’ve been here and it’s not going away. It’s just that we can talk about it now. It’s even sadder that people read this slanted article and don’t even know it’s slanted. The American populace is so uneducated these days, no one even knows what slant (lack of objectivity) and bias mean. ::sigh::

Rainy Wednesday

It was raining so hard a minute ago, I couldn’t see the yard! It’s supposed to be this way all day today, so my plans are to clean up around here. I’m going to attempt to fix the leaky hot water tap on the sink, rearrange the furniture for the xmas tree, work on jewelry and probably cook a bit. The DSL will be off and on all day (moisture fucks with it due to badly spliced phone lines) so it’s a good day to putz around here. Oh, I also need to sew up the damn curtains for the taqueria (mentally moves that up the list).

I also need to do some xmas shopping… Hopefully the DSL will stay up long enough to get some of that done.

And let’s not forget about the damn postcards for the pinup show. Hmm, I’ve got an idea for those, perhaps I’ll get into that today as well.

In other news, my Holiday Fear and Loathingâ„¢ is going nicely. People bug me. Driving makes me extremely cranky. I’ve discovered that I cannot do outdoor lighting worth a fuck. I’ve totally screwed up the front porch and it will all have to be rehung. Bah!

I’ve little patience for anything right now, so don’t be surprised if I snap at you. Especially if you are doing something dumb. Like having 4 unfixed cats in your home due to “ethical” reasons (!!). Or being an indecisive flake. Or myriad other things lurking in my Herd O’ Peevesâ„¢. I’m just not in the mood, ok? I’ve not even gotten shopping started and I’m stressed out! Just know it’s the Fear and Loathingâ„¢ making me even more bitchy than usual and don’t take it personally.

For more information on the Herd O’ Peeves or other Angela wrangling advice, I direct you to MY wrangler: Nick. Sadly, I do not have an impenetrable wall around me with a publicity manager to handle all my personal business like some I know. So, I guess you’re stuck with dealing with me. Heh.
