Different House

Ok, so the $100k home is too expensive. We looked at an $80k pre-foreclosure home that was shite. We liked a bungalow across the street from the shite house, but it’s already sold. We liked another bungalow 2 streets over, which turned out to be for RENT, not sale. Bugger. But…

We found a lovely little bungalow 2 more streets over that we just may buy!! It’s a 1951 2/1 with wood floors, central heat/air, new roof and new kitchen. It’s white aluminum siding with black edged crank out windows (which I adore despite their inherent inefficiencies) and a lovely front porch. It has a large, very private backyard with a deck for parties.

We love it. And we just may buy it. Since the other properties that we looked at are already gone, we’re very motivated to get this one. We will NOT be sorry, I’m positive of that. :-)

So, any of you that would like to cast, conjure, do readings or whatever on our behalf, please, please do so. We really want to be home owners!

More info here as I get it. Stay tuned…

Weekend follies

First, a shoutout to our Best Indian Mickey! Good to see you’ve ::finally:: found my REAL site!! LOL

We’ve got tickets to Delerium tonite. I have no idea how they plan to do a show, seeing as it’s a GROUP project with different members each record. It’d be great if they bring the Medieval Baebes, tho! It’d be REALLY great if they have Leigh Nash with them, but I can’t see that happening. She’s the singer for Sixpence None the Richer and she writes the best Delerium songs, but I can’t imagine her touring with Delerium instead of her band!

Then tomorrow we’re off to KnoxVegas for the weekend. We’re taking Nee with us so she can pick up her new car from her parents. My family can see our new Contour and we can do the ole meet-n-greet. Nick hasn’t been up there in a while.

I’m also gonna talk up the house buying to see if they are going to be supportive or not. Probably not, but it’s worth chatting them up. They have a nasty habit of saying that they’ll do this or that but never following through, so even if they do talk a good game, I am not counting chickens.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Can I get an Amen?

I read the funniest Vent the other day in the AJC. To paraphrase it:
“Terrorism is a 90 pound woman driving a 10,000 pound SUV 50 mph in the grocery parking lot while yelling at her kids in the backseat and talking on the cell phone.”

Truer words were never spoken.

Nick got his raise!! W00t!

So, I’m at home today, feeling fairly crappy, studying my Herbalist stuff, mindin’ my own bidness, when Nick calls. Very quietly and calmly, he tells me that he finally got the raise that he has deserved for about 6 months now.

We’d just talked about it this morning: the work he does, the lack of money that they have offered him, what we’d do if no offer was made… Then, out of the blue, he gets called into the office and they hand him everything that he deserves: a salaried position with a $9,000 raise and every other Monday off.

What else is there to say? WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!

::does the happy dance::

:-D

Johnny Cash: RIP

Well, this weekend was great fun! We had dinner with Pat and Bexxx at their home in the suburbs. We met their lovely roomie Caroline and we look forward to hanging out with them again!

I saw the video of Johnny Cash’s version of Hurt for the first time on Saturday. I was sobbing at the end. I have rarely had any artform affect me like that video did. It is a masterpiece. It is amazing. I don’t typically watch music videos – I’m not a fan of the genre – which is why I’d not seen this one until Cash’s death. They were playing it continously on the music video channels. That rendition of Hurt and those images are still haunting me today. He could not have planned a better final video. If you have not seen it, you need to see it TODAY. I’m not kidding, it’s that powerful. RIP, Johnny, RIP.

We did nothing else of consequence this weekend. We watched the movie Frida yesterday and made a bunch of phone calls to our families. Frida was excellent. I highly recommend it. Salma Hayek’s work was outstanding.

Well, I’m off to do some errands and such. We’re out of kitty food and that is a BAD thing! :-)
