Another day lost to insomnia

It’s funny. Some people avoid sleep and hate the whole process while all I want is a decent night’s sleep without eating a handful of pills.

Last night I took TWO Sleep Assures before bed and still woke up promptly at 2:30am. I got up, walked around, looked at the moon, drank some gatorade and took a pill cocktail and a double dose of Deep Sleep. I got back into bed and there I was until around 5:30-6am, when I fell asleep for a WHOLE HOUR before being awakened by cats and Nick getting up to feed them. Of course I couldn’t go back to sleep so I did my errands in a fog and came back here to collapse on the couch. I did not sleep, but napped lightly for a couple of hours. I still feel like shit and can’t really think straight.

I’ve lost SO many days of my life to this shit. There must be something I can take to fucking SLEEP.

Insomnia sucks ass.

  1. when i was overseas, i couldn’t figure out how to ask for sleeping pills, but the nice old pharmacist told me to make a ritual out of bedtime. in particular to drink a hot chocolate made with milk – (you could just drink warm milk he said, but it’s nasty.)

if you sleep better cold, take a warm shower and go directly to bed with the fan on – if you need to be warm, confine showers to the am.

make sure there are no distractions in the bedroom – (you already don’t do tv in the bedroom, which is excellent, but no reading either.) also make sure that if you don’t fall asleep you get out of bed. or your stupid lizard brain will associate the bed with insomnia.

it took me about 2 weeks to find the right sequence of events to fall asleep – i wish i were a man and all i had to do to get to sleep was bust a nut – but alas – the female psyche is more complex than that.

    *hugs*

  2. This is not behavioural, sadly, but hormonal. No amount of ritual will help with this. And apparently there aren’t any sleep drugs that can overcome it either. Suck.

Isn’t levitra the long lasting viagra for men? I fail to see how that would benefit me! My man is already horny and I rarely feel like servicing him!

::sigh:: anyway, it’s over, the hormones are back to semi-normal and I’m sleeping. Until next month. :-/

  3. OOPS! Sorry, you are CORRECT! (I was very horny the other day)

    I meant Lunestra.
