I just posted this to a blog I found via BlogExplosion called Conservative Trail Head. The author is one of those ‘I was liberal until I grew up’ people who thinks that conservatives will save the world. Yah, right. That’s what the first short paragraph is adressing. Mr Oddey is a blogger who posted about the virtues of the Mexicans and that the US should not only give them what they demand, but MORE. Yah. The meat of this post is about the Mexican problem that the US is facing:
First: thinking that conservatives are any less greedy, deluded and self serving than liberals is just silly. You want sensible ideas? Libertarian. Look into it.
Now, about those Mexicans. You are right on the mark. I live in Atlanta, which is chock full of Mexicans and other minorities (in this city, being white is a minority, btw). Mr Oddey is clueless about what Mexicans represent to this country. They represent a $16+BILLION drain on our economy. They do NOT pay taxes. They use social services. They insist that we provide Spanish language schools.
Name ONE, just ONE other country in the world who would offer such extravagant amenities for immigrants of any kind – legal or not. Can you trot into France or Germany and demand citizenship, free social services, no taxation AND that everyone speak English for you? NO!! The US is in the position of supporting Mexico financially plus providing free medical, free education (in Spanish, natch), and unfettered free citizenship. That is INSANE.
Mexicans do, indeed, come here “for a better life” because Mexico is a third world country. I studied there in College, I’ve seen it first hand. It’s a nasty, dysfunctional country with valueless money and no middle class. Either you are stinking rich or you live in a hut. Period. Take a look at the GNP of Mexico as compared to the rest of the world. Look at the Per Capita as well. Mexico is a very weak country as far as world economies go.
Mexicans seem to think that the US OWES them a livelihood. Mexicans have no qualms about not paying taxes and sending every spare penny home to Mexico to support their families there. Here in GA, we just instituted a fee on every wire transfer to Mexico in a lame effort to stem the flow of American dollars. I do payroll and I can tell you with certainty that Mexicans pay little to no taxes. They are all S/6 (single with 6 dependents).
If every immigrant group demanded the special treatment that Mexicans demand, there’d be no governmental budget left. They want special treatment because Vincente Fox instills this entitlement attitude in them. Remember the “Immigration Comic”? It’s REAL. I have it. It’s a step by step instructional manual on how to illegally cross the US border.
This country is made of immigrants, true, but it’s made of immigrants who came here to assimilate, not to recreate their country here. There is a huge swath of Atlanta where you must speak Spanish if you want to shop. Mexicans want Mexico. They are not interested in the US for anything other than the free stuff and the cash to send home.
The resistance to assimilation is the tip of the iceberg. Mexicans want the US to be a Mexican annex.
I think we should simply annex Mexico. We already support its economy and provide social bennies to a large number of its citizens. Why not? They’ve got great beaches and some groovy pyramids, too.
We should own about $16 billion of Mexico already, right?
