Three weeks of SUCK

So, I took a trip out West, as I do periodically. It’s usually about two weeks and pretty routine. This time, I got trapped out there for an extra week and I thought I was going to lose my mind. I like solitude, but a solid week of sitting in a hotel room is CLEARLY not for me. So, yah. Sucked. Will not be doing that again.

I came home to my poor DJ, who has gone downhill drastically while I was gone. He is pitiful and I think we’ll have to let him go next week. It breaks my heart, but I knew it was coming. He just crouches on his heating pad on the floor and occasionally cries. He doesn’t seem to really be here. I’ve got to let him go. It is killing me. I’ve cried a LOT the last few days.

While I was gone, I had a lot of time to think about a lot of things. I’ve come to some conclusions and hatched some new ideas, in no particular order:

– I’ve decided to get a Sleeve Gastrectomy, aka Gastric Sleeve surgery. I can’t live at this weight any longer. Despite my hysterical fear of needles and doctors, I am finishing up my research and looking for the Doctor with whom I want to book in Mexico. I hope to have it done in June. I don’t want too much time to elapse or I’ll chicken out. [BEST decision I’ve ever made!! I’m 70# lighter and feel fantastic! $4k in Mexico w/ Dr Mario Camelo Ramos. -A 2017]

– I am NOT down with the pub idea any more. I don’t want to take on $200k+ in debt, nor do I want to go into that much debt for some asshole landlord’s property. So, NO. Instead, I’m thinking a TRUCK. As in a MOBILE arcade/food truck. Tell me, would that be awesome for parties or what?? It’s MUCH more affordable, it’s money spent on US, not a greedy landlord and if we get sick of it, we sell the truck. This is something we can get started for around $20k (less than buying a car) rather than $200k. What do you think? If you saw an arcade truck at a food truck park, would you be excited? [HA!! Wish I’d stuck to my guns on this one!! Eh, live and learn. -A 2021]

– Nick and I have realised that the longest we can stand being apart is about two weeks. We start to get really depressed and antsy any longer than that. Three weeks is definitely too long.

– I had bronchitis on the road. Had to find a walk in clinic in Shawnee OK, which sucked. I’m done with smoking. Even under the extreme stress of the last two weeks, I’ve managed to stick to the zero nicotine ecig. I have the weak lungs of the Pratt side of the family, I simply cannot smoke any more. I don’t like it, but that’s the way it’s got to be. Having bronchitis twice in a 6 month period has made it clear that COPD is in my future if I don’t quit. So I did.

– Speaking of ecigs, aka vapes. All this bullshit I’m reading about how horrible they are for you, yadda yadda is really pissing me off. Even the PA at the walk in clinic was dissing them, saying “propylene glycol is the stuff in antifreeze! It’s bad for you!”. The tobacco companies are plying Drs with disinformation because they don’t want people to stop smoking. It’s that simple. The fact is that propylene glycol VAPOUR is ALSO used in asthma medications, so if it’s bad for you, then I guess all those asthma nebulizers are bad, too, RIGHT? Yah, didn’t think so. It’s propaganda from big tobacco. They are going to regulate ecigs right out of existence. You watch. I’ve even heard some people bitching about the vapour containing nicotine, so therefore it’s as bad as cigarette smoke. That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. It’s VAPOUR, NOT smoke, and therefore doesn’t hang around in the air, dumbass. And besides that, what about those of us who use the ZERO nicotine cartridges? I think we are going to get fucked AGAIN by big tobacco and they’ll take away the flavours and close down the internet sales of ecigs because it’s cutting into THEIR sales. You’ll notice the crappy ecigs sold in gas stations are only tobacco and menthol flavours. Why? Because that’s what Big Tobacco sells. They don’t sell flavours, so therefore no one should be able to buy flavours. Fuckers. Ugh.

The only fun thing that came of this trip was that I finally got myself a spring assist knife. Got one for Nick, too. The actual switchblades were a little more pricey, so I got the spring assist. It’s cool. I like it. I got some awesome Botanical Garden pix, too, which I’ll post later in my gallery.

Tell me what you think of a mobile arcade. I think it’s pretty rad! :)

  1. Mobile arcade food truck is one of the most genius ideas I’ve ever heard. Why has no one thought of this before?!?! I know you’re pooped to pieces and dealing with a bunch of shit, but we have to catch up soon! We’ve missed you! And, I could tell the few times I saw Nick at the mailbox and whatnot that he was missing you.

  2. I really like the idea of the food truck especially if you have the right market for it. I was thinking possibly even local festivals as well as a good regular location and catering and such.

  3. I love the idea of the arcade food truck. Atlanta seems like the perfect place for it too. Let me know when you need beta testers.
As for the e-cigs, since I don’t smoke I can’t have an opinion on them BUT I can wish you good luck!

  4. Hey! I was curious about those ecigs. There’s an ecig store locally that (I think) sells the flavors. I haven’t smoked since 2004, but I’m super curious about the non-nicotine flavors. If I could find a good clove, I’d be the happiest happy girl ever. (And I’d feel like I was 23 and a wannabee goth again, heh.) Are ecigs pretty expensive?
