Hidden News

So I’m perusing the AJC this morning and in the very back of the Business section there is a small blurb about the Connecticut US District court upholding a judgment against Pratt & Whitney, basically forcing them to remain in CT rather than move their manufacturing plants where they (P&W) want to move them.

The original case press release from Jan 15, 2010 entitled “Attorney General Says Pratt & Whitney Proved In Court Its Own Failures To Lawfully Protect CT Jobs” asserts that the company “breaches its collective bargaining agreement” with the Union and therefore should be compelled to remain in CT for the remainder of the Union agreement. The victory was applauded for forcing Pratt & Whitney to cater to the Union. From the Ameriborn Constitution News: “Congressman Joe Courtney [Dem] joined the members and leadership of the International Association of Machinists (IAM)…[to say to P&W] A deal is a deal.”

Why is this significant? It’s significant because a) it was buried in the paper and b) it is a very significant move by our judicial system to award control of PRIVATE COMPANIES to Unions and the government.

When the courts start awarding control of private companies (and banks) to the government (or Unions), this is a very disturbing lean towards fascism. If you’ll recall, our lovely politicians just changed the rules about how much money Unions can spend on political lobbying and/or advertisements. I also love how it’s the fucking Democrats who are pushing this agenda!! WTF?

Taken separately, these two items are easily overlooked or dismissed, but taken together, I think it is showing a very disturbing trend. Hmm, lessee, let’s allow the Unions (and corporations, too) spend as much as they want to get their bought and paid for candidate in office. THEN let’s start setting judicial precedent for allowing Unions and the government to force private companies to have plants where they are told and to bow to the Unions – or risk punishment.

These things together equal FASCISM. Plain and simple. It’s funny that the Democrats – who are always pointing fingers at the Republicans for being Nazis – are the very ones pushing for government seizure of banks and corporations. It’s like Nick says, you go far enough to the right OR left and you will end up with authoritarianism. I agree wholeheartedly.

Does anyone else think these are Very Bad Things to be happening? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

  1. Dude, I’m with Nick. Anyone too far to either size scares the bejesus outta me.

And yes, I think government control of privately-owned companies is wrong. That’s why they are PRIVATELY OWNED. I think smoking bans by the government in PRIVATELY OWNED BUSINESS are bullshit.

But good god almighty, nobody scares me worse than the tea party nutjobs right now. Seriously. I know jezebel.com probably leans a little left to your liking (muahaha) but they made a valid point while liveblogging Palin’s speech last night:
Sarah P: “The government that governs least, governs best.”
Jezebel: Though I still want to make sure you can’t get married, gays, and that all your reproductive rights belong to us, ladies.

Yeah. Those people want less government where corporations are involved. They don’t really want less government where morality or sweet baby jesus are involved. What a bunch of fucking hypocrites.

  2. I’m neither right NOR left. I’m a centrist w/ Libertarian party & a side of Fair Tax because the goddam gov’t is NOT designed to mandate behaviour or run private companies. And our tax system is Byzantine.

It’s always the far lefties (fucking hippies!!) who think I’m hella conservative – trust me, I’m not. I believe in accessible health care (where are the CLINICS?) and I REALLY believe in a better education system. I see the dumbasses that the schools are churning out now. Test takers they are. Smart they are NOT. I think systems like the HOPE grant are brilliant and should be available everywhere. Just by those two issues alone, that puts me on the fringe of the Libertarians. I guess you’d call me a left leaning Libertarian. Which makes me CENTRIST.

Hypocrites indeed. There is not a scrap of honesty to be found in DC. It saddens me the direction this once-great country is taking. :-(

  3. LOL
I am also a left-leaning libertarian. Or that’s what I call myself anyway. But my conservative friends think I’m a raging liberal. I’m not.

  4. See? Both sides are lunatics. Hippies say I’m a Nazi and Conservatives say I’m a Socialist. I think I’m a left leaning Libertarian, too, which by definition puts us in the middle. The radicals of both sides HATE US because we want compromise and they are 100% against *that*. It’s all or nothing! You’re a liberal fanatic or a conservative fanatic! Anything but the MIDDLE!! Oh NOES!!

Buh. I hate politicians. Of that I am certain.

  5. None of it matters because we are all going to die when the ice at the North Pole all melts at once and floods all of North America. (Global warming, you know)
Let’s hope it hits D.C. first.
