At 11:44am this morning will be the autumnal equinox. Here’s the technical definition:
An equinox is the moment in time (not a whole day) when the centre of the Sun can be observed to be directly above the Earth‘s equator, occurring around March 20 and September 22 each year. – from Wikipedia
For those of us leaning towards the pagan side, this event is called Mabon. It is the harvest festival or for urban pagans, it’s the appreciation of the bounty of the Earth in general. The harvest moon just passed last week and today is the day to give thanks for the bounty of your life and the food, air and water that sustains you. Mabon is for giving thanks.
I am thankful for having a wonderful life, a lovely home, a handsome and brilliant partner and good friends. My life is pretty damn good and I try to be grateful every day.
I’d like it if everyone took just a couple of minutes today to feel gratitude for all the good in your lives. ::hugs:: :-)
