Ready, Set, BUY MILK AND BREAD!!

Gods, they are calling for sleet and maybe light snow tonite. You know what that means in the South:

GO as fast as you can to the grocery and BUY up all the milk and bread in sight!

Why is this? Milk will spoil if the power goes out, right? So why would you want to have gallons of it? I get the bread thing for sammies, but MILK? I’ll never understand it. It’s one of the truly funny things about living in the South.

  1. Maybe they think the milk will simply turn into yogurt, cheese and a penicillin farm if it goes bad (though penicillin doesnt come from milk. But these are idjits we’re talking about.) I knew a man who ate some pieces of severely moldy bread in the belief that it couldn’t possibly harm him, since it was “full of penicillin”. Ha. He learned his lesson fast (but not fast enough). And a dude who, driven by a rumor, ate moldy orange scum in hope of LSD. Some ppl just don’t understand the processing of food products, so I really wouldn’t be surprised if my people-hoping-for-cheese theory is right!
