The latest in my rainbow of hair colors: dark red and blue.

Now if I could just FEEL BETTER before the con! Argh!
And sometimes chicken, too! This is the best combo I’ve made recently for my flatiron steak. Happy grilling!
1tsp sweet paprika
1tsp hot smoked paprika
1tsp granulated garlic
1tsp onion powder
1tsp cumin
.5tsp coriander
1tsp salt
1tsp sugar
1tsp ancho chile powder (optional)
Keep in a glass jar for freshness. This makes about 3/4 cup powder.
I read this article in the AJC last week and it made me think of the harassment I took from a gang of gluten free women last month when I refused to advertise that the taqueria was a gluten free establishment. They got pissed because I wouldn’t make those statements and I told them to call the owner. Oh, but let me tell you, if one of them got sick from eating something verboten, you can be sure they’d be the first to sue. Bitches.
But anyway, the AJC food critic/blogger John Kessler published a point/counterpoint article about this type of silly crap that “advocates” think restaurants should be responsible for: calories, fat content, allergens, etc., etc., ad nauseum. The article WAS on the AJC food blog, but no more. [Dec 2015]
Of course I’m on the side of the restaurant. The only places you’re going to find full nutritional info is large chains. If you want that sort of information because you don’t understand that “al fredo” means heavy cream and butter, then I suggest you eat only at Chili’s, Applebees and the like.
If you are deathly allergic to peanuts, then perhaps you should eat at home?
If your brat requires no gluten, then ask the owner or manager about the menu, but don’t get all crazy on waiters (or admins like me) because we won’t guarantee anything.
The way I see it, if you like to patronize local joints, then you either educate yourself about how the kitchen is run and make friends with the owner/manager or you stick to safe bets like chains. Or eat at home.
DO NOT go out to a restaurant and bring your drama and bad attitude. The waiter probably does NOT know every freaking ingredient in every freaking dish. That’s not her job! It’s NO ONE’S job to fuss over you and cater to your specific needs. You are in a business not a daycare. If you need coddling and the like then please, just stay home. Small restaurant owners have better things to do than deal with your silly shit.
I’m not making light of medical conditions or allergies, but dammit, don’t expect the whole world to stop and cater to YOU. Small businesses are just that: small. Small budgets, small margins. It’s pricey to get nutritional analyses and no local place is going to do that. Get over yourself and cut your local joints some slack.
Nobody likes bitchy little girls. If you can’t act like a grown up and be responsible for your own shit, STAY AT HOME. This is just another offshoot of people wanting everyone else to be responsible for them. Isn’t the Nanny State up in our business enough?
[This is on behalf of all small local restaurants that have to put up with unreasonable people.]
Nick is the best husband EVAR! We went to the Decatur Arts Festival today and I saw a cool teal topaz ring at one of the vendors that’s always there. The beauty of this ring is that it’s ADJUSTABLE! The shank loops under at the top under the setting so you can’t tell from looking or wearing it that it’s adjustable! Genius!
It’s sterling silver with pure silver roping around the setting and an 18c gold flat dot opposite of the flat rope decoration on the shank that you can see. And it was incredibly inexpensive, too! W00t!

New shinies are gooood! <3 Thank you baby, I really love it!
It’s two weeks until Phoenix Comicon, which we had to cancel this year. It’s bothering me a LOT that we’re not going. I mean, we’re totally not ready to be at that con as vendors, but I was so wanting to go. ::sigh::
But we do have Heroes Con in Charlotte the first weekend in June, so that’s helping assuage the sting of missing PHXCC. Seeing our name on the Small Press page is pretty dang exciting!
We’re totally not ready for Heroes, either, but buttons are on the way and so are a few T Shirts. We’ve decided to produce the comics ourselves so there’ll be LOTS of folding and stapling in our future! I don’t think you’re ever ready for your first con, actually. I’m really glad we’ll have friends at our table and next door to give us support!
I’ve got a client who’s decided to finally put up a full website, which is cool, but she’s very hard to satisfy artistically, so I’m a little anxious about it. I hope I can give her the look that she wants. ::fingers crossed::
I’ve got some friends who want a site for their store, which I’m doing for fun. I’m really glad that we’re all on the same page with the slow pace – otherwise I’d be really stressed out about it.
I’m feeling basically fine still. I’m not having the desire to kill small animals in the backyard with my bare hands, which is what some people experience with Effexor/Pristiq. I still want to shoot things, but that is normal for me. ::giggle:: I borrowed an Airsoft pistol from Sonya’s son to pop Mr Pants in the ass and try to discourage him from fighting with DJ. It probably won’t work, but it’s worth a shot. Heh, heh. SHOT. Get it? I kill myself!
I got my member package from the High Museum and it’s got two passes. Who wants to see the Allure of the Automobile exhibit with us? If not that, then there’s Dali coming in July.
I’m off of Facebook today because it took hold of both my browsers this morning and frankly, I’m afraid of using it. I don’t know what kind of jackassery they’ve got going on over there, but I don’t like it. I think it was an errant script. It has to do with their new marketing scheme that revolves around “all your surfing are belong to us” no doubt. Fuckers. If I didn’t run pages on that stupid site, I’d have dumped it already. But you can’t run pages w/out an account, so there ya go. Can we all go back to LJ now? PLEASE? FB can eat a bag of dicks with a side of smashed assholes.
Ok, off to flop on the couch and try to cool off. I got all hot and sweaty hauling groceries. Buh.
