Site design – NOT!

OY! What an ugly site! LOL

Well, kiddies, I think for now I’ll use this template – modified, of course. It’s a basic 3 column, which I like and I also like the window at the top. I believe I’ll put some of my photography in that… Maybe even put a slideshow or something.

Anyway, sorry for the ugly, it’ll be gone soon!

Welcome to WordPress

I’m futzing with templates, so you may see 5 different ones until I find one that is not a total bitch to rewrite. You can pretty much cruise around as you have been, but be warned that any links referring to another blog post will take you back to the old entries where you can’t get back here unless you click the back button.

The migration worked great for content, however, internal references and all the other images and crap are still in MT.

Thanks!

Ooo, Cap One update!

[edit, 2:47pm] Just got an email from the BBB saying that as far as they are concerned, the complaint is closed. Heh, well, they can close it all they want but if I don’t get a refund, then I’ll complain again! Ha!

So, I reiterated my complaint with the VA BBB about Cap One and I actually got a response! Now, I don’t know if it’s due to the guy that I yelled at the other day when I canceled the account or if the BBB finally got through or both, but in any case, I got a response!

Cap One offered to refund all the finance charges and also apologized for their shitty customer service.

Wonder if I’ll actually get a check from them? It’d be nice – the fuckers owe me close to $200.

I’ll post if/when I get my refund. No, I’m not holding my breath. ;-)

Look for new design this week!

Sorry for the hurty blue everyone! I remembered after I redid the CSS that this combo was not pleasant for the PC users and flat panel users last time I used it.

But not to worry! I’m migrating to WordPress this week, so this site will have NO design at all for a bit. Heh! Yep, simple out of the box WP. It’ll look something like this – which is Heather’s new site, btw. Nick and I set her up with hosting and got WP installed for her last week. :-) She’ll be using her new blog very soon, so stay tuned!

We’re sort of on a WP tear right now. Nick is changing his site to it, we’ve gotten Heather up, we’re moving MINT Gallery to WP and probably our biz site will be WP as well. Needless to say, we really love WP! Its interface and ease of use is far FAR superior to Movable Type. When MT went to paid, we knew there’d be someone to step up and make a better free blog package and sure enough, up comes WordPress. They also offer free blog hosting like LJ! They’ve got over 2 million subscribers to that, so it must be working pretty well. :-)

For those of you who want to have your own blog but don’t want to hassle with software installs and all that, I suggest TypePad. It’s a SixApart product which is based on Movable Type, but it’s an all in one solution for blogging: hosting + software preinstalled = you’re ready to blog. It’s a great product, but not free. In any case, having your own site is never free unless you’re a reseller like me who can set up accounts willy nilly under my unlimited account. It’s not free for me, either, it’s $50/mo, but I’ve got several web clients that pay me for hosting so it’s paid for.

Anyway, that’s the report for today. Expect some changes around here very soon.

MT malfunction [edit]

Update: Yay! Apparently it was Firefox having the issues, not MT. But PLEASE, if you see something weird or you have ANY trouble with the colors or design, leave a comment! I’ll fix it!

I can’t get MT to accept the CSS changes OR file changes for any pages other than this one… So if you click to look at a single entry or an archive page you’ll see the old graphic for Leonardo – which has been replaced. Weird.

HOLY SHIT! It’s fubared completely on the laptop, too! OY! I think Firefox is having issues, it renders fine with Safari… Just damn!

Hopefully it’ll straighten out in a day or so.

The code is right but the output files are not. I can’t explain it, so I can’t fix it, either. ::sigh::
