The weekend was supposed to be a calm, boring, stay at home one, but alas, that’s not what we got. After the week I’d had, I figured that going out Friday with Stormy would be just the ticket to help me get over my malaise. And it did help immensely. She went to the Oakland Cemetery tour and the weather was just perfect for skulking around a graveyard: chilly w/ light rain. We waited for her over at Six Feet Under – they are in their new space. We’ve eaten there 4 or 5 times and the food is just not that great. It’s mediocre at best. We had their famous Rat Toes appetizer which is a shrimp stuffed into a jalapeno then wrapped in bacon. Sounds deelish, but they are never cooked enough. That bacon should be crispy and the jalapeno should not be crunchy. For our meal we had fish stew which had potential, but sadly just tasted like canned tomatoes with some seafood tossed in. In addition, whoever was running expo was doing a shitty job because our two bowls of stew were not evenly portioned – a big NO for going to the same table. Stormy’s chicken fingers were dry and bland and the fries were soggy. Overall, they’ve never gotten above 1.5 stars (out of 5) from me. So we got out of there and came back here to watch a movie Stormy brought: May. It was a slow burn sort of horror flick, but very entertaining. She was here until around 2am when she had to go pick Jim up from work.
We thought that Saturday was to be a home day with some running around doing errands and it did start that way. We slept in due to being up late Friday night so got a late start. Nick took a truckload of stuff to the Decatur Recycling day and got that done early. Then the phone kept ringing so we didn’t even get out of the house until 2pm. We headed to Big Lots to dig around then we had to go to Kroger and the Farmer’s Market and we’d planned to hit Home Depot, too, but all that got derailed. I got a call from Sonya; she and Robert were at loose ends looking for something to do. So I told them to meet us at Big Lots and we’d have an exciting lunch at… PICADILLY!!! LOL
I’ve always loved cafeterias. My mom used to take us to Morrison’s every time we went to the Mall. So we got our Senior Citizen practice on at the Picadilly! Woohoo! Then we went to the Farmer’s Market and came back here. We sat and chatted until around 8pm when they got a call that their son had become ill at the sleepover he was attending and they had to go pick him up.
We thought that we were done with the socializing, but noooOOOooo. Not 10 minutes later we get a call from Emily. She said she would be home from a party in an hour or so but she didn’t roll up until after 10pm. By then we’d sort of revved back up and were up for more partying. Suffice it to say that Nick escorted Miss Emily back home around 2:30 or so. Heh.
Sunday came and we again slept in. We did manage to get some small things off our list: hanging the window art, fixing the attic latch, getting Nick’s tire fixed. Oh and don’t buy tires from Tires Plus. They have morons working there. They neglected to add the Road Hazard warranty to Nick’s tires when we bought them and we had to pay $25 for a goddam nail removal. Assholes. We’ll buy from another place next time.
So today is our Monday off. We’ve no agenda and I plan to not answer the phone. Nick missed a weasel on Friday, so today he needs to crank out TWO. I will probably do some web work. Then we’ll go to Criminal for comics and I’d like to try out the Porter if they are open. They’ve been closed the last 2 times we’ve been there.

Discount Tire. best place to go for the rubber. and they don’t jerk you around.
