OMFG I’m so tired of this!

So, another two days of my life have been eaten by the vile organ. I know I whine about this every month, but just DAMN. If you had chills, sweats and nauseating cramps, you’d whine, too.

At least the Dr I’m seeing is supportive of my getting the vile organ removed. She is encouraging me to call her surgeon and see if I can negotiate a deal. ::sigh:: Even a “deal” here is twice as much as Costa Rica ($10-20k on a good day here vs $10k for tickets, the surgery and a nice stay at the beach there). The thing that holds me back from Costa Rica is that I have no referrals. I don’t know who these fuckers are down there and have no idea if they are decent or just veterinarians on vacation. Not that a veterinarian couldn’t do the procedure, I mean, hell, it’s the same parts as a cat or dog. It’s the sanitation and recovery that worries me. And having to go alone. SUCK.

So, I’ve had two more days of my life sucked away by a vile nasty organ that I don’t want and won’t use. That makes about 720 days (almost 2 years) of my life by my count wasted due to this bullshit.  So, yah, I’m BITTER. I’m bitter that every female I know without her uterus (conveniently paid for by insurance) is happy as can be. They don’t have to sit up all night with chills, sweats, body splitting cramps and nausea. They don’t have to feel like they got run over by a Mack truck for days. They don’t have to have their husbands take up the slack because they can’t get off the fucking couch. (Good thing I’ve got an awesome hubby that doesn’t mind taking care of me.)

I really hate to go into debt, but I just can’t live like this. I just CAN’T. I’m going to explore Costa Rica some more, but dammit, I just want it done and over with. I just want to be free.

Is that so much to ask?

  1. Get job and hold for 30 days…
Get insurance from job, get operation…
Throw finger at job… be free.

  2. If only it was as easy as getting a job for a month. It usually takes months to get the job, months to get the insurance and then they probably won’t cover an “elective” surgery such as this. FUCK insurance. Insurance is why the godsdamned procedure costs so much in the first place. If it weren’t for insurance jacking up the rates of everything, we could all simply go to the Dr, pay for the service and be happy. Do you think it’s reasonable to pay $6k for the surgical instruments that are used on you and then REUSED again and again? I don’t. Do you think it cost $20k+ to have a kid in the 60s? I think not, otherwise I’d not be here. The whole thing with hospital stay was just a few hundred dollars. That was before insurance companies. I’d rather run up a credit card than pay an insurance company (extortionists) for anything. If EVERYONE would bow up and tell insurance companies to go fuck themselves, we might could have decent healthcare. Insurance companies fucked it up for everyone and now everyone acts like society will collapse if we don’t participate. FUCK THAT.

    Ahem.

    Sorry, it’s a hot button for me…

  3. yeah healthcare is in the shitter. the new ::ahem:: insurance that is available at my job is through Aetna, and they waht to take $54 out of each check just in case I get sick or hurt. oh yeah, I also have a limit of 5 doctors visits per year and no more than $10,000 worth of hospital stays. great so If I get in a wreck or contract some African Ape disease Im out of luck EVEN WITH insurance.

  4. I so sympathize with you on a variety of these issues, but two in this instance stick out:

    a) insurance, and more broadly, the inept, for-profit health care system..

and b) legitimate information on medical/dental tourism — I have investigated for both myself and friends/family..

I seem to run into a lot of “tourism” companies promoting the savings while skimming over the quality of care/aftercare, or alternately, various groups representing medical “interests” here in the states who want to preserve patients by using scare-tactics involving horror stories of third-world medicine.

  5. Well, I met someone personally who went to Costa Rica via one of the big companies on the internet and she absolutely loved it. She said it put US hospitals to shame. Not that it would take MUCH to put the US hospital system to shame, but still. She raved about how awesome everything was and highly recommended Costa Rica. I will probably end up with Costa Rica unless by some oddity it ends up being a similar amount. If so, then I’ll stay my ass on my couch to recover, ya know? Nick makes and EXCELLENT Cabana Boy. teehee!

    :-)
