Although you do not technically have to do anything more than put © on your stuff to be protected, everyone knows that “borrowing” is rampant on the internet. There is a service is offering a way to keep track of your stuff in case it’s pilfered by an unscrupulous surfer. And why not do all you can, right?
The FREE service is My Free Copyright and it appears to be a pretty good idea.
They are also working on a site that can trace your stuff and perhaps bust anyone who is “borrowing” your stuff without permission. It’s called Copyright Spot and it’s only in alpha, but does appear to work.
So, bookmark these sites and for you artists out there, I’d say USE IT. Why not? It’s free!
